Mr. Collins was born February 25, 1945 in Cleveland, GA to the late Sherry and Catherine McClure Collins. Charles was machine operator for Mohawk Carpet and was a member of Shoal Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Collins, Cleveland; daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Michael Hawkins, Clermont; son and daughter-in-law, Bobby and Chanda Collins, Cleveland; son, Scott Collins, Cleveland; grandchildren, Hunter and Taylor Bray, Asheton Collins and MaKayla Grizzle, Dawson and Kerrigan Collins, Brandon Collins, Stormie Rayelynn Standridge.

Funeral services are scheduled for 4:30 PM Sunday, August 4, 2019 at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Stacy Dyer, Rev. Paul Flynn and the Rev. Danny Kastner will officiate. Interment will follow at Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 PM Saturday at the funeral home.

Heather Joann Summerour, age 28 of Cleveland, passed away Monday July 22, 2019.

Mrs. Summerour was born on May 31, 1991, in Dahlonega, Georgia, to Stacy Lewis and Angela Lowe. She worked as a waitress at Glenda’s and was a member of The Gathering Church.

Survivors include her husband, Randall Summerour, Cleveland; children, Brooklyn Summerour, Rylee Summerour, and Landon Summerour, all of Cleveland; mother, Angela Lowe, Dahlonega; mother, Edna Burson, Lula; father, Stacy Lewis, Ellijay; brother, Jason Lewis, Dahlonega.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 26, 2019 at Antioch Baptist Church, located on Auraria Road in Dahlonega. The Rev. Bobby Whitmire will officiate. Interment will follow in the Summerour Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home.

Cleveland Funeral Home & Cremation Services announces that Ronald William (Ron) Firestine, 72, passed away peacefully at home on July 21st, 2019. Born in Irvington, New Jersey on January 18, 1947, he spent most of his young life in Miami, Florida before moving to Georgia in 1982 where he lived for the remainder of his life, settling in Cleveland, GA in 2014. He worked in the automotive industry for 50 years, and his hobbies included working on cars, watching WWII documentaries and Atlanta Braves games, and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be missed for his long, meaningful conversations, his sage advice, and his love of cooking Italian food. He is survived by his wife of almost 33 years, Janet; two daughters, Kathi and Kasey; one son, Cory; and two grandsons, Cooper and Jackson.

Graveside services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Friday, May 24, 2019 at Gateway Memory Park.

Betty Lou McConnell, age 61 of Gainesville, passed away on Sunday, May 12, 2019.

Mrs. McConnell was born on April 2, 1958, in Gainesville, Georgia, to Ima Jean Westmoreland Underwood and the late Thurman P. Underwood. She was a retired LPN at Northeast Georgia Medical Center and a member of White Creek Baptist Church. Betty was preceded in death by her husbands, Tony Meeks and Billy McConnell.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Jennifer Meeks; granddaughters, Jordyn Meeks, Ellie Meeks, Lilly Chapman; mother, Jean Underwood; sisters, Elaine Mize, Bobbie Keith (James), Judy Howell, and Elizabeth Goodman (Scott); special niece, Mary Goodman; several other nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Lewis Fortner will officiate. Interment will follow in White Creek Baptist Church cemetery.

Cleveland Funeral Home announces that Joe Thomas Mitchell, age 73 of Sautee Nacoochee passed away on November 18, 2019 following an illness that was caused by Agent Orange when he was in the Air Force.
Joe worked in the automotive industry for over 35 years and was an avid car lover. Over the years he has owned over 200 classic cars.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of many years, Jane Bonapfel Mitchell; Sons Tony (Angie) Mitchell, and Matt (Melissa) Mitchell; and daughter, Cindy Dye; Sister, Martha Fortenberry; and Grandchildren, Ansley, Luke, Madeline, Taylor, Zachary, and Carson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at 1:00 at The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection with Father Scott Kidd Officiating. Following the Memorial Service, a reception will be held at the church. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia. Cleveland Funeral Home & Cremation Services announces that Harvey Edward Heddings, age 55 of Cleveland, Georgia passed away on October 13, 2019.
Harvey was born on February 22, 1964 in Lewisburg PA to the late Richard Heddings and Mrs. Blanche Mull Forsburg. He lived in North Georgia for the last 20 years, where he was a self employed roofer. Every day, Harvey got up and broke his back to provide a good life for his family that he loved so dearly. He was a lover of many things, two of his favorites being the ocean and music. Harvey had a contagious laugh and in a matter of seconds he could have an entire room engulfed in smiles and laughter.
In addition to his father, Harvey is preceded in death by brothers, Clyde Heddings and Kim Heddings, sister in law, Ida Heddings, and his favorite “furry friend” Snoopy.
He is survived by his wife of 20+ years, Jamie Heddings; Mother, Blanche Forsburg; Children, Nelson Heddings, Johnny Heddings, Mandy (James) Kilby, and Shelby Heddings; Brothers, Charlie Heddings, Shane Heddings, and Frank Heddings. He was also survived by 9 grandchildren.
Private family services will be held. Mr. Heddings wishes were to be cremated. He will forever be where “you can see the sunrise and sunset, no matter what”, in the Florida Keys.

John A. Rose, Jr: Obituary

Mr. John A. Rose, Jr., age 94, of Cleveland, GA passed away Sunday, October 6, 2019, at Martinsburg VA Medical Center.

Mr. Rose was born in South Bend, Indiana the son of the late John A. Rose, Sr. and Huldah Morland Rose. Upon graduation from high school, Mr. Rose served during WW II in the U.S. Army, 86th Chemical Mortar Batallion. After completing his service, he went on an adventure to build a family with his beloved wife Jean in Marathon, FL, owned and operated two successful businesses and retired to the mountains of Georgia. He was a member of the Yonah lodge #382 as a Master Mason with over 50 years of service, the Georgia F&AM, and Loudsville United Methodist Church. Mr. Rose was preceded in death by his wife, Emogene (Jean) Rose and a daughter, Jo Ann Ward.

Survivors include daughter and son in law, Rhoda and Adrian Poston, son, Robert Rose, daughter, Jean Ann Rose, son in law Donald Ward; grandchildren, Bridget and Scott Burroughs, Buffy and Rick Robertson, Brandy and Jerrod Crawford, Lindsey and Clay Maley, Selena Ward and Ryan McBeth, Derek and Elena Fenton, Katie Poston, Stephenie and Christophe Wilhelm, Jennifer Heller, and Robert Taute; great-grandchildren, John Paul Robertson, Wade Jasper Crawford, Rachel Fenton and Bella Fenton.

Visitation and Memorial services will be held on October 26, 2019, at Barrett Funeral Home. Visitation will take place between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. Memorial services will follow at 2:00 p.m., at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. Interment will be in Loudsville United Methodist Church Cemetery. A reception will follow at Barrett Funeral Home.
