GDOT awards contract for Cleveland Bypass Phase 3

CLEVELAND, Ga. – The Georgia Department of Transportation awarded 10 construction project contracts in June to the Northeast Region in June that totaled just over $28 million and the largest went to White County.

The third phase of the Cleveland Bypass which represents an $11 million investment was awarded to CMES. The project starts at the intersection of State Route 11/US 129 and ends at the intersection with State Route 75. Hulsey Road will be widened to four lanes with a center turn lane. This project is estimated to be complete 510 days from start date.

A separate contract was awarded to Southern States Pavement Markings to upgrade rumble strips, — a road safety feature used to alert drivers of lane lines — throughout 11 counties in the region. The routes and locations in White County include State Routes 11, 254, 348 and 356.

GDOT also awarded a contract to Pittman Construction Company to resurface State Route 115, in White County, starting at the Lumpkin County line and extending to North Bell Street.The scheduled completion date is Dec. 15, 2020.
