James Phillip Ward, age 73 of Cleveland, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2018.
Mr. Ward was born on September 11, 1945, in Gainesville, Georgia, to the late Thomas Minyard and Cora Belle Brock Ward. He worked as a machine operator, loved volunteering as a coach for youth athletics, and was a member of Union Grove Congregational Holiness Church. Phillip proudly served his country as a member of the 101st Airborne Division and a Green Beret in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Ward.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Sandra Ward, Cleveland; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Melissa Ward, Ila; daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Robbie Haynes, Cleveland. He was the best papa to his doonks (precious grandchildren) Madison Haynes, J. Ben Haynes, and Matthew Ward. Survivors also include his brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Laurel Ward, Homer, and Homer and Carolyn Ward, Lawrenceville; sister, Alice Warwick, Clarkesville.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Union Grove Congregational Holiness Church. The Rev. Mike Spence, the Rev. J.D. Sosebee, and the Rev. Paul Flynn will officiate. Interment will follow at Gateway Memory Park.
The family will honor this husband, daddy, and papa by receiving friends from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Lawrence (Larry) Allen Simser, age 88 of Sautee, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018. Mr. Simser was born in Oswego,NY to the late Jerbin and Harriet Dehm Simser. Larry was a retired Master Sergeant from the United States Marines and the United States Coast Guard. He received the Korean Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the United Nations Medal and the Navy Occupation Service Medal. Larry was a member of Mt Yonah Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elwanda Shook Simsey and his son, Lawrence Allen Simser, Jr.
He is survived by his sisters Maggie Simser, Pleasant Hill, CA., Dorothy Hoyt, Dallas TX., Alice Ziebarth, WI,. brothers, Melvin Simser, Antioch, CA., David Simser, San Marcos, TX., Clyde Simser, NC., close friends, Doug and Maudeen Merck, Sautee.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday July 25, 2018 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Doug Merck and the Rev. Andee Courson will officiate. Burial will be at Hayesville United Methodist Church Cemetery in Hayesville, NC.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Henrietta Irvin: Obituary
Obituaries July 20, 2018
Ms. Henrietta Irvin was born on September 30, 1927 to Newt and Linney Satterfield. She grew up in Skitts Mountain Community where she continued to live with her beloved husband, J.C. Irvin. The two farmed, raised two sons, and were inseparable until his death, whereafter she remained a widow for 41 years.
Countless lives were touched by this great lady. From the lifelong friends that knew she was always there, to the children that will forever remember Easter egg hunts in her yard, that was always manicured and beautiful with flowers, and coming to her house every Halloween for popcorn balls then growing into adults and bringing their children for more.
So many share fond memories of fishing and camping with this wonderful woman, which were two of her favorite pastimes
She taught her grandchildren how to make biscuits, cobblers, blackberry rolls, and popcorn balls with a pitch of this and a spoonful of that. We always had to cook the syrup until it would “spin a thread” and that’s how we knew it was ready. She also taught us life lessons like kindness, gratitude, and compassion.
Punk or Granny Punk, as we all called her, was an extraordinary lady who cooked for, cared for, and loved the multitudes. Her door was always open and the coffee was always hot. She was loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Ms. Irvin was preceded in death by her husband, father, mother and all of her siblings. She leaves behind son and daughter-in-law Clayton and Dianne Irvin, son Sandy Irvin, grandchildren Judy and Jonathon Rogers, Jessica and Brandon McDougald, Jennifer Irvin, Hannah Irvin, Shannon and Katie Irvin, Emily and Shane Gaddy, great grandchildren Devin and Ben McDougald, Josiah, Elihu, and Isaac Irvin, and Clare and Emmett Gaddy.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Kyle Savage and the Rev. Bryan Satterfield will officiate. Interment will follow at Skitts Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery.

Aundie Jane Mason, age 79 of Cleveland, passed away Monday, July 9, 2018.
Mrs. Mason was born April 15, 1939 in Dahlonega to the late Joseph Nelson Miller and Carrie Sutton Miller. Aundie was former housekeeper for Northeast Georgia Medical Center. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, James Mason, son, Randy Mason, brothers, Wendell Mason, Edward Mason, Charles Miller, Herbert Miller, sisters, Bonnie Toler, Evon Paschal and Bertha Ree Miller.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Denise and Lindsey Watson, Gainesville; Darlene and Terrell Seabolt, Cleveland; grandchildren, Chance Watson, Brandon and Bene Dockery; great grandchildren, Quinn Dockery, Eden Dockery; brother, Arlis Miller, Cleveland; sister-in-law Lena Miller, Marietta.

Paul Christopher Hansen: Obituary

Paul Christopher Hansen, age 66 of Sautee, passed away Wednesday, July 4, 2018.
Born 10/7/51 in New York to Callie and John Hansen, Paul and his 3 siblings lived for several years in Huntington, Long Island before the family relocated to Cleveland, Ohio. He graduated in 1969 from Richmond Heights High School and in 1976 from Ohio University with a BA in Philosophy. Relocating to Atlanta that summer, he eventually started what became a successful business as a painting contractor specializing in high end homes in Buckhead and Sandy Springs. Retiring in 2015 to Sautee, GA, he continued to do the same work he’d been doing for the last 40 years on his own house, this time for free.
Paul was a 17 year non-Hodgkins lymphoma survivor. Because he was always able to find the best in the worst of situations, he was able to turn a tough situation into one of perspective and gratitude. He knew how lucky he so often was. Those who remember him also know he was all about the love of his family, his pets, and music.
Surviving are his wife Mary, also of Sautee, and daughter Melody, of Athens, GA; brother John and his wife Helen of Rosenberg, TX; sister, Laura and brother in law Ron Haldeman of Channahon, IL, and sister in law Lisa, widow of eldest brother Jim, who passed away in 2015.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, July 7, 2018 at 5:00 PM at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 4-5 PM Saturday before the service.

Rev. Loy Oliver Warwick, age 92 of Grayson formerly of Chamblee and originally of Cleveland, passed away Sunday, June 17, 2017.
Rev. Warwick was born July 28, 1925 in Cleveland, GA to the late Charlie and Flora Freeman Warwick. Loy worked for Mead Westvaco Paper Company retiring with 25 years of service, during that time Rev. Warwick pastored a number of churches including Union Grove Congregational Holiness Church. Rev. Warwick was a member of Union Grove Congregational Holiness Church and a Veteran of the United States Army. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Laura Watson Warwick, siblings, JW Warwick, Charles Warwick, Louselene “Lucy” Warwick Cochran and Julia Mae Warwick Howard.
Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Edie Carroll Warwick, Grayson; grandchildren, Wesley Chandler Warwick, Grayson; David Jared Warwick, Atlanta; great grandson, Mason Reid Warwick, Sugar Hill; brother and sister-in-law, George and Polly Warwick, Cleveland; brothers-in-law, Henry Cochran, Gainesville; Everett Ledbetter, Cedartown; sister-in-law, Geraldine Watson Stephens, Cedartown; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Saturday, June 23, 2018 at Union Grove Congregational Holiness Church. The Rev. Junior Sosebee, the Rev. Wayne Hicks and the Rev. Paul Flynn will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 AM Saturday at the church prior to the memorial service.

Dr. Hubert Ellis (Bud) Crocker, Jr., age 83, of Sautee, passed away Monday, June 4, 2018 from his residence.
Dr. Crocker was born in Bridgeport, Alabama to the late Hubert Ellis Crocker Sr. and Louise Childers Crocker. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by son, Hubert Ellis “Chip” Crocker III and daughter, Kaye Wilson. Dr. Crocker was a retired dentist.
Survivors include, wife, Peggy Crocker, Sautee; son and daughter in law, Richard Allen (Rick) and Julie Crocker, Milner, GA; daughter and son in law, Karen and Dee Seabrook, Mt. Pleasant, SC; daughter, Lisa Bringuel, Gulf Shores, AL; daughter, Kari Hiers, Flowery Branch, GA; and 9 grandchildren.

William Howard Croley, age 81 of Cleveland, passed away on Monday, October 7, 2019.
Mr. Croley was born on January 31, 1938, in Detroit, Michigan, to the late Gorman and Marie Sexton Croley. He was a retired educator with the Ohio Department of Education and was a member of First Baptist Church of Atlanta. Bill was also a member of the Kentucky Colonel Clay Masonic Lodge and a veteran of the United States Army. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Bryant.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn Croley, Cleveland; brothers, Bob Croley and Berry Croley, both of Corbin, Kentucky.

Raymond Karlis Stelmachers: Obituary

Raymond Karlis Stelmachers, age 83 of Cleveland, passed away on Monday, September 9, 2019.
Mr. Stelmachers was born on August 5, 1936, in Riga, Latvia, to the late Karlis and Tonija Stelmachers. The Stelmachers family arrived in America at the New York Harbor in December of 1951. Raymond was 15 years old at the time. Karlis Stelmachers loved the movie “Gone with the Wind” and this prompted the move to Georgia. Raymond then graduated from O’Keefe High School in 1955 and married Dorothy Thomas the year after in 1956. Raymond became a citizen of the United States in 1973. This is a perfect example of how displaced people from other countries can have hope and a new beginning coming to America.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Dorothy Stelmachers, Cleveland; son and daughter-in-law, Raymond and Theresa Stelmachers; daughter, Lynda Fulton; grandchildren, Brandon Fulton (Amanda), Stacey Fulton, Ryan Stelmachers (Briana), Alexander Stelmachers; great-grandchildren, Piper Fulton, Harrison Stelmachers, Sean Fulton, and Kaydence Fulton; and brother, Ivars Stelmachers.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday, September 12, 2019 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Kevin Woody, the Rev. Dave Fortner, and Deacon William McCarthy will officiate. Interment will follow at Mt. View Baptist Church Cemetery.

Reneé Sarah Wilkinson, age 33, of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2019.
Reneé was born in Pennsylvania, earned a Bachelor of Commercial Arts Degree, was a dedicated mother and a homemaker. She attended church regularly at Concord @ Mt. Yonah. To quote Reneé, “A few days ago, Domenic showed me a bud on the morning glory vine. We’d been waiting months for this, since we started the seeds. I had really thought the vines weren’t getting enough sun to flower. “Maybe tomorrow, it’ll bloom!” Sure enough, the next morning – not only did it bloom- but it was the biggest, bluest morning glory I’ve ever seen. I shouldn’t have doubted it.
I thought about the heavy prayers I have right now. Can God show that, that not only does He care, but is working things out that I can’t even see yet – through a morning glory that I didn’t think would bloom? To me, He can.”
