White Co. Players of the Week

The six players named TeamFYNSports Player of the Week during White Co.’s 2019 football season were recognized Wednesday, Feb. 19, at the high school. Each player received a commemorative shirt and a gift certificate for a free meal.

The Players of the Week were:

Week 1: Zion McMullen. The sophomore running back scored three touchdowns in a win against Lumpkin Co. on Aug. 30 at home.

White Co. Players of the Week

Junior J. Ben Haynes was named the TeamFYNSports Player of the Week three times during the past football season.

Week 2: J. Ben Haynes. The junior quarterback accounted for two rushing touchdowns and two passing touchdowns in a loss at Habersham Central on Sept. 6.

Week 3: Jesse Moose. The junior defensive player had an 80-yard fumble returned in a win against Pickens on Sept. 13 at home.

Week 4: J. Ben Haynes. The quarterback threw a 45-yard touchdown pass to go along with three rushing touchdowns in a win at North Hall on Sept. 20.

Week 5: Jesse Moose. The junior had multiple sacks and tackles for loss to go along with a fumble recovery in a loss at Marist on Sept. 27.

Week 6: Will Sampson. The senior wide receiver had multiple catches and a receiving touchdown in a loss at Flowery Branch on Oct. 4.

Week 7: J. Ben Haynes. The quarterback accounted for five touchdowns (three rushing and two passing) in a win against West Hall at home Oct. 18.

Week 8: Cooper Turner. The junior caught two touchdown passes in a loss to Denmark at home Oct. 25.

Week 9: Riley Stancil. The junior running back scored a rushing touchdown and caught a touchdown in a win at Chestatee on Nov. 11.

Week 10: Cooper Turner. The junior had more than 100 yards receiving in a loss to Blessed Trinity at home Nov. 8.

Bentley Cronic is the TeamFYNSports Player of the Week for the Lady Warriors!

Cronic, a senior guard who is committed to play at Piedmont College next season, scored in double digits in three wins for White Co. (6-5, 2-1 Region 7-AAAA) last week.

On Tuesday, Dec. 10, Cronic scored a team-high 22 points as the Lady Warriors earned a big region victory at West Hall, 79-44.

She followed that by scoring 12 points, pulling down two rebounds, and adding an assist and steal in a 59-39 win against Class 6A’s Habersham Central on Friday, Dec. 13, in Cleveland.

The next day, Cronic scored 14 points, added three steals and an assist, as the Lady Warriors defeated Dawson Co. 64-56 in the North Georgia High School Showcase on Saturday, Dec. 14, in Dawsonville.

For her efforts, Cronic is the TeamFYNSports Player of the Week for the Lady Warriors!

Jadon Yeh is the TeamFYNSports Player of the Week for the Warriors!

Jadon Yeh is the TeamFYNSports Player of the Week for the Warriors!

Yeh, a freshman guard, had double-digit scoring in both games for White Co. (5-5, 0-2 Region 7-AAAA) last week as the Warriors won two straight.

On Friday, Dec. 13, Yeh scored 13 points as White Co. took down Class 6A’s Habersham Central 67-46 in Cleveland.

The next day in the North Georgia High School Showcase in Dawsonville, Yeh scored 11 points as the Warriors defeated Riverside Military Academy 58-46.

For his efforts, Yeh is the TeamFYNSports Player of the Week for the Warriors!

Silas Mulligan is the TeamFYNSports Writer’s Player of the Week for the Warriors!

Silas Mulligan is the TeamFYNSports Writer’s Player of the Week for the Warriors!

Mulligan scored 15 points in the White Co. boys basketball team’s only win last week, a 58-46 defeat of Union Co.

Mulligan is a sophomore shooting guard who stands 6-foot tall and weighs 170 pounds.

The Warriors are 3-3 on the season and next host Blessed Trinity to open the Region 7-4A schedule.

Dasha Cannon is the TeamFYNSports Writer’s Player of the Week for the Lady Warriors

Dasha Cannon is the TeamFYNSports Writer’s Player of the Week for the Lady Warriors!

Cannon, a junior, put on a show last week, averaging 22 points game for the White Co. girls basketball team.

Against South Forsyth on Saturday, Nov. 23, Cannon scored 25 points to go along with seven rebounds, an assist, and two steals.

Against North Hall on Monday, Nov. 25, Cannon poured in 19 points and added four rebounds, three steals, and a charge.

Against Union Co. on Tuesday, Nov. 26, Cannon scored another 21 points to go with two rebounds, an assist, six steals, a blocked shot, and a charge.

For her efforts, Cannon is the TeamFYNSports Writer’s Player of the Week for the Lady Warriors!

Maddie Futch is the TeamFYNSports Writer’s Player of the Week for the Lady Warriors!

Maddie Futch is the TeamFYNSports Writer’s Player of the Week for the Lady Warriors!

Futch, a junior, led White Co. (3-5, 1-1 Region 7-AAAA) to the first region win of the season Tuesday, Dec. 3, against Blessed Trinity in Cleveland.

Futch scored 11 points, pulled down four rebounds, added an assist, a steal, and a taken charge in the Lady Warriors’ 53-38 victory.

On Friday, Dec. 6, Futch led the team with 15 points, while added six rebounds and a steal, in a 59-44 loss on the road at Marist.

White Co. next visits West Hall beginning at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 10, before hosting Habersham Central at 7 p.m., Friday, Dec. 13.

For her efforts, Maddie Futch is the TeamFYNSports Writer’s Player of the Week for the Lady Warriors!

 

To be considered for the TeamFYNSports Writer’s Player of the Week, a player must play in all games the team plays during that week and must not have any unsportsmanlike conduct (ejections, etc.). Stats considered for Player of the Week run from Monday through Saturday, with Player of the Week being selected Sunday each week.
