Mary Gerrells Lewis, age 89 of Cleveland, passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018.
Mrs. Lewis was born on January 20, 1929, in Cleveland, Georgia, to the late Haskell and Maude London Gerrells. She was a homemaker and a member of First Congregational Holiness Church of Gainesville. Mary was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Mize, Donnie Whitfield, and Lee Lewis; 5 brothers; 2 sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Joann Mize Skelton, Cleveland; son, Johnny Mize (Fellis), Cornelia; granddaughter, Donna Jean Parks; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services are scheduled for 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Bobby Griffin will officiate. Inurnment will be at Mt. View Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:30 A.M. prior to the service on Tuesday.

Martha Rae Kimsey, age 102 of Helen, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018.
Mrs. Kimsey was born on July 9, 1916, in Gwinnett County, to the late William Oscar Reese and Mattie Jane Kanady Reese. She was a homemaker and a member of Center Baptist Church. Martha Rae was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph C. (Bill) Kimsey; brothers, Pierce Reese, Joe Reese, George Reese, Frank L. Reese; great-grandson, Greg Hammond.
Survivors include her daughter, Martha Bolinger, Brunswick; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Curtis Ledford, Cleveland; sons and daughters-in-law, William (Bill) and Marti Kimsey, Helen, Joe and Mertice Kimsey, Helen; grandchildren, James Bolinger, Brunswick, Joe Bolinger, Brunswick, Billy Kimsey, Oakwood, Barton Kimsey, Gainesville, Carrie Vandegriff, Sautee Nacoochee, Jana Bartlett, Cleveland, Joy Hammond, Helen, Beth Hildebran, Cleveland; 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Center Baptist Church. The Rev. Michael Wilkes will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Glenda Diane Shoffeitt, age 79 of Dahlonega, passed away on Wednesday, October 10, 2018.
Mrs. Shoffeitt was born on July 13, 1939, in Lumpkin County, to the late Jess and Bessie Moose Thomason. She was a homemaker. Glenda was preceded in death by her son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Loyce Shoffeitt; daughter, Betty Jean Shoffeitt; granddaughter, Christy Shoffeitt.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, John Henry Shoffeitt, Dahlonega; sons, Johnny Shoffeitt, Dahlonega and James Shoffeitt (Anna), Dahlonega; daughter, Geneva Jones (Larry), Oakwood; grandchildren, Joseph Shoffeitt, Buffy and Greg Evans, Jordan Shoffeitt, Misty and Morgan Caldwell, Jeremy and Genie Seabolt; several great-grandchildren; sister, Faye Self and Janet Shreffler, both of Dahlonega.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, October 13, 2018 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Town Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Robert Louis “Bob” Carder: Obituary

Mr. Robert Louis ‘Bob” Carder, age 84 of Dahlonega, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018.
Mr. Carder was born June 15, 1934 in Lithonia, GA but had lived most of his life in Lumpkin County. He was the son of the late Iola Weaver Carder and the Reverend Robert Carder.
Mr. Carder was a graduate of Lithonia High School, Marsh Business College, Middle Georgia College, and Woodrow Wilson College of Law. Due to chronic health problems, Bob was unable to pursue his dreams of a career in law. Mr. Carder was retired from the Credit and Accounting Department of Atlanta Gas Light Company. He served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1962.
Mr. Carder was a member of Philippi Baptist Church. He was a member of Sigma Delta Kappa law fraternity and a member of the Strings ‘N Things Band of Dahlonega for several years.
Mrs. Carder is survived by his loving wife, Geraldine Gilreath Carder, of 52 years, and a number of other relatives.
Funeral Services will be held 2 PM Wednesday, October 10, 2018 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Jason Fuller, the Rev. Michael Youngblood, and Dr. Robert Klassen will officiate. Interment will be in Dahlonega Memorial Park with Rev. Tim Hicks officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Tuesday, October 9, 2018 from the funeral home.

Jeffrey Grindle: Obituary
Obituaries October 3, 2018Jeffrey “Jeff” Grindle, age 44 of Cleveland, Georgia passed away on September 23, 2018. Jeff was born on October 15, 1973 to Dorothy (Graham) Beard and the late Harold Grindle.
Jeff is preceded in death by only his father. In addition to his mother, Dorothy Beard, he is survived by two brothers, Steven Grindle of Sautee, and Phillip Grindle of Cleveland. Jeff also leaves behind many friends, extended family, and his ever so faithful beloved dog, “Buddy”.
Visitation hours are set for Tuesday, September 25, 2018 from 3:00p.m.-5:00p.m. and again between the hours of 6:00p.m.-8:00p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Chapel of Cleveland Funeral Home on Wednesday September 26, 2018 at 2:00p.m. with Reverend Timmy Sullens officiating. Interment will follow at Mount View Cemetery.

Burma Lee Russell Chastain: Obituary

Barrett Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mrs. Burma Lee Russell Chastain, age 87 of Cleveland. Burma passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018.
Born on January 22, 1931 in Hayesville, North Carolina, Burma was the daughter of the late Larkin Roosevelt Russell and Viola Rainee Garrett Russell. She graduated from Hayesville High School and at the age of 50, Burma would graduate at the top of her class from Tri County Community College with a degree in Cosmetology. At the age of 8, Burma met the man who she knew someday would be her husband, J. S. Chastain, they remained friends for a number of years and finally married in 1948. She and J.S. would spend 60 plus years together before his passing in 2010. No stranger to hard work, Burma worked for Orbit Manufacturing in Helen, and along with her late husband, owned and operated the “Ice Berg” ( later known as the Alpine Valley Inn) until 1971. She then moved back to her hometown of Hayesville, NC where she worked various jobs before returning to White County, where she was employed by Ames Textile and finally Fruedenburg NOK. She formerly retired in 2005 but would continue to be active in both Meals on Wheels as well as the White County Senior Center. Burma was a longtime member of Testnatee Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, Burma is preceded in death by her son, David Lee Chastain, daughter, Sandra Diana Chastain as well as her sister, Madge Russell and brother, Dawson Russell.
Survivors include her daughter, Vicki Watson of Cleveland and Ole Town, FL, sons, John Chastain of Cornelia and Gary Chastain of Cleveland; sister, Clyta Matheson, of Hayesville, NC and brother Walter Russell of Forrest Park, GA. Burma is also survived by her 13 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
It was Burma’s wish to be cremated and services will be held at a later date.

Ashley Nicole “Nikki” Allen, age 39 of Gainesville, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018. Ms. Allen was born in Clayton County to Larry and Jill Allen of Cleveland. Nikki was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her son Kelby Fair, her daughter Kandice Marie, her significant other Josh Hare, and her sisters Tami Allen Folds (Jason) and Toni Allen Mathis (Dan).
Funeral services are scheduled for 4:00PM Wednesday, July 25, 2018 at the chapel of Barrett Funeral Home with interment following at Gateway Memory Park in Cleveland.

Robert E. Reily III: Obituary

Robert E. Reily III, age 77 of Cleveland, Georgia passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018.
Mr. Reily was born in Atlanta, Georgia January 31, 1941 to the late Robert E. Reily, Jr. and ImaJean Donehoo Reily. Robert grew up in Atlanta, Georgia where he attended Brown High School, class of 1959. After high school, Robert joined the Navy and served in the Vietnam War aboard the U.S.S. Ranger CVA 6. After returning home from Vietnam, Robert married his wife of 50 years, Julie and attended Woodrow Wilson College of Law in Atlanta, Georgia, where he earned a law degree in 1975. Robert practiced law as well as worked as a financial advisor with Riviera Finance Company in Atlanta, Georgia where he retired. Robert and family moved to Cleveland, Georgia where he enjoyed fishing from his fishing dock on the Chattahoochee River. Robert was an avid bird-watcher and enjoyed painting the beautiful mountain landscapes surrounding his home. He was an enthusiastic Georgia Tech football fan.
Survivors include his wife, Julie Reily, Cleveland; daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia “Cindy” and Michael Williams, Rogersville, Alabama; daughter, Sharron Skiba, Alpharetta; daughter and son-in-law Robin and David Garrett, Dacula; daughter Annie Reily, Cleveland; grandchildren, Dustin and Julia Williams, Alex Skiba, Taylor “TJ” Williams, Olivia Skiba, Emma Strickland, and Sarah Strickland; great grandchildren, Emmaline Williams, Fallon Williams, and Charlie Williams; siblings, brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Rosa Reily; sister, Patricia “Patsy” Elliott; brother, John “Johnny” Reily. Robert also had many neices and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, July 28, 2018 at The Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home, Cleveland, Georgia.
A reception will immediately follow the service at the funeral home.
Joyce Whitlock Voytek: Obituary

Joyce Whitlock Voytek, age 70 of Cleveland, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018.
Ms. Voytek was born in Jacksonville, IL to the late Bert M. and Jane Bingemann Whitlock. Joyce worked as a real estate agent for The Norton Agency for a number of years and co-owned and operated The Rose Bud Gift Shop in Helen, GA. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Richard B. Whitlock and Lawrence R. Whitlock.
Survivors include her brother and sister-in-law, James and Missy Whitlock, Helen and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial services will be held at a later date in Illinois.

Mr. Joe Shoffeitt, age 70 of Cleveland, passed away on June 23, 2018. He was born on January 24, 1948 to John Henry Shoffeitt and Imogene Voyles. He retired from Mayfield Milk with 48 years’ experience and was a member of Town Creek Baptist Church.
Mr. Shoffeitt is preceded in death by his Daughter Christy Shoffeitt and his Sister Betty Jean Shoffeitt.
Survivors include his parents, John Henry (Glenda) Shoffeitt and Imogene Voyles, his loving wife Loyce Shoffeitt of Dahlonega, his Son Joseph Shoffeitt of Dahlonega, Brothers James (Anna) Shoffeitt of Dahlonega, Johnny Shoffeitt of Dahlonega, and Eugene Cagle of Gainesville, his Sisters Geneva (Larry) Jones of Flowery Branch, Joyce (Bobby) Southers of Gainesville, and Cheryl Knapp of Braselton. Survivors also include his Step-Daughters Sherry (Brent) Buffington of Cleveland, Shelly (Felicia) Seabolt of Clarkesville, Granddaughters, Bree and Brooke Buffington of Cleveland, Grandsons, Seth Smith, Conor Jordan, and Thomas Jordan of Clarkesville, and his special Aunt Mary Shoffeitt as well as many other friends and relatives.
