CLEVELAND, Ga. — A 34-year-old Cleveland man was arrested Saturday and charged with sale, distribution or possession of a dangerous drug, speeding and driving while license is suspended or revoked.

While on patrol, White County Deputy Daniel Amoling observed a silver Ford Explorer traveling at an excessive rate of speed on Hwy. 129 South near Totherow Road.  Radar detected the speed to be 74 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone.

Amoling initiated a traffic stop and the driver, Stephen Maye, presented his drivers’ license. According to the arrest report, Maye advised  the deputy that his license had been suspended and that he had a limited driving permit, which he said had also been suspended due to a second DUI.

White County Communications advised Amoling that Maye also had a warrant out of the Clayton Police Department.

Asked if he had anything illegal in his possession, Maye surrendered a bag of pills (Trazodone, a dangerous drug) for which he had no prescription and a pipe with marijuana residue.

Amoling had the vehicle towed and transported Maye to the White County Detention Center.
