Lady Warriors defeat Dawson Co. 76-50

The White Co. Lady Warriors defeated the Dawson Co. Lady Tigers 76-50 on Friday night in Cleveland. White Co. relied on hot shooting the whole night, but their defense stepped up in the second half. They held Dawson Co. to 19 points in the second half.

The Lady Warriors were led in scoring by sophomore Caitlyn Gailey’s 18 points. Senior Maddie Futch also scored 16 points for White Co.

White Co. couldn’t be stopped in the first half, as they took a 42-31 lead into halftime. Gailey took over in the third quarter, scoring 10 of her 18 points in the period. Their 21-point third quarter allowed the Lady Warriors to put the game away.

The Lady Warriors will travel to play the Gilmer Lady Bobcats on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Lady Warriors defeat Dawson Co. on the road

The White Co. Lady Warriors defeated the Dawson Co. Lady Tigers 67-45 on Tuesday night in Dawsonville. White Co. was led in scoring by Naomi Roberts, who finished with 17 points. Caitlyn Gailey also scored 14 for the Lady Warriors. Freshman Morgan Chester led the Lady Tigers in scoring with 10 points.

White Co. turned up the pressure early and often, forcing plenty of turnovers that led to easy baskets. The fast paced game allowed for a high scoring first half, as the Lady Warriors led 37-27 at halftime.

That defensive pressure kept up in the second half as White Co. held Dawson Co. to only 18 points. The Lady Warriors scored 30 points in the second half to win the game 67-45 and get their first region win of the season.

White Co. plays again this Thursday as they travel to Union Co. to take on the Lady Panthers at 5 p.m.

White Co. sweeps North Hall to advance to Region 7-3A championship

The White Co. Warriors swept the North Hall Trojans 2-0 to advance to the Region 7-3A championship. The top-seeded Warriors, who also hosted the tournament, won the first set 25-22 and the second set 25-15.

Neither team was able to gain any separation in the first set, as the score was tight the entire way. Both teams had a few short runs, but North Hall held onto a 20-19 lead late in the set. White Co. had another run left in them and scored five straight to take a 24-20 lead. The Trojans fought back to win two more volleys, but the Warriors held on to win 25-22.

White Co. picked up right where they left off in the first set and raced out to a 6-0 lead. They extended that lead to 15-5 and eventually held on to win the second set 25-15 and win the match 2-0.

The Warriors moved on to face Lumpkin Co. in the region championship.

White Co. falls to Lumpkin Co. in extra innings

The White Co. Lady Warriors were defeated by the Lumpkin Co. Lady Indians 6-3 in Cleveland on Wednesday night. Down 3-2 in the bottom of the 7th inning, #2 Rachel Carter drove a run in to tie the game at three and force extra innings.

#33 Lauren English started the game off with a solo home run in the first inning to give Lumpkin Co. the 1-0 lead. White Co. responded by scoring two runs in the bottom of the second inning on an error by the Lady Indians. With runners in scoring position, Anna Johnson drove in two runs in the top of the 7th inning to give Lumpkin Co. the lead. However, the Lady Warriors scored in the bottom of the 7th on a sacrifice by Rachel Carter. In the top of the 9th, Johnson hit a solo home run to give Lumpkin Co. the lead. They scored two more runs in the inning to win the game 6-3.

The Lady Warriors’ next game will be Monday as they host Gilmer high school at 6 p.m.

The White Co. Lady Warriors defeated the Dawson Co. Lady Tigers on Monday night in Dawsonville. Katelynn Palmer, Rachel Carter, Liana

O’Kelley, and Gabby Whiddon scored runs for the Lady Warriors to lead them to a 4-1 victory. O’Kelley and Annika Vandiver combined to strikeout 13 Dawson Co. batters and held the Lady Tigers to only one run on three hits.

The Lady Warriors jumped out to an early lead by scoring two runs in the first inning. They scored two more in the fourth inning to take a 4-0 lead. Dawson Co. scored a run in the bottom of the 6th inning to close the gap, but couldn’t score any more, as White Co. prevailed 4-0.

The Lady Warriors return to action tomorrow as they host Cherokee Bluff at 6 p.m.
