Despite a solid game from Tripp Nix, the Warriors fall to the Raiders

After a solid win in Week 1 over North Hall, the Warriors defense failed to keep the Raiders off the board as Habersham Central won the game 42-28. QB Tripp Nix had the offense rolling, but it was the defense who failed to come up with stops to keep White County in the game. The Warrior’s secondary was getting scorched play after play as they allowed over 300 yards in the air. White County also racked up 114 penalty yards in this one.

Team Notes

Nix was the real bright spot for the Warriors on Friday night as he accounted for 81% of the yards by himself. Going 14/22 for 162 yards and adding 156 yards on 27 attempts and a TD on the ground, Nix was the MVP for the Warriors. Unfortunately, the defense allowed 496 total yards and failed to come up with the necessary second half stops. RB Noah Williams and Ryan Fowler were each able to pick up rushing TDs, while Caysen Duvall added a 78-yard punt return TD.

Habersham Central was rolling all game and the Warriors had no answer. The key to their win on Friday night was their second half defense as they held White County to just one TD in the half. Neither Maxpreps nor Hudl had individual stats posted for Habersham Central.

Look Ahead

The Warriors will return home for a matchup against the Chestatee War Eagles (0-1). The War Eagles defense allowed 61 points in their first matchup so look for Tripp Nix to have another big game on Friday night. For the Raiders they will take their win into a Bye Week as they prepare to host the Central Gwinnett Black Knights (2-0) on 09/09.
