Lois Payne Johnson, age 80 of Cleveland, passed away on Wednesday, January 16, 2019.
Mrs. Johnson was born on May 16, 1938, in McDowell County, West Virginia, to the late Ballard and Rodie Matney Payne. She was retired from DeKalb County School System and later worked for Fred’s Peanuts and Ginny’s Fudge. Lois was a member of White Creek Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, John Johnson; son, Nicky Eller; brothers, David Payne, Harold Payne, and Jimmy Payne.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, John and Michele Johnson, Woodstock; daughters, Jan Johnson, Cleveland, and Dinia Hardy, Stafford, VA; grandchildren, Hannah Wilkins, Michael and Christian Owenby, Shelly Conley, Melissa McHayton, Jason Hardy, Bethany Matsumori, Tarra McFadden, Laurie Miller, Ian Eller; brothers, Leslie Payne and Bobby Payne, both of West Virginia; 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 20, 2019 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Lewis Fortner will officiate. Interment will follow in White Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.

Mr. Taylor was born on July 21, 1937, in Alabama, to the late English Taylor, Sr. and Josephine Adair Taylor. He was a self-employed construction laborer and retired from the union. English was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtis Simpson Taylor; brothers, James Taylor and Sylvester Lee Taylor; sisters, Sara Pearl Taylor, Maggie Mae Henderson, Josie Lee Dooley, and Bernice Unthank; grandson, Alex Taylor.
Survivors include daughter and son in law, Patricia and Charles Smith, Cleveland; son, Anglish Leonard Taylor, Dallas, TX; brother, Phillip Taylor, Bricktown, New Jersey; sisters, Dorothy Thompson, Clearwater, Florida, and Betty Neal, New Samaritan Beach, Florida; devoted niece, Grace Dooley; 4 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren.

“Millie” Camilla Payne, age 72 of Cleveland, Georgia passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Cleveland Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mount View Cemetery. Mrs. Payne is survived by her husband James Payne of 55 years; daughters and sons-in-law Teresa and William White, of Cleveland, Georgia; Lisa and Jeff Brown, of Woodstock, Georgia; grandchildren Jonathan and Amanda Powell; Zachary Miller; Austin Miller; Michael Brown; Cassandra Brown. Millie enjoyed flowers, gardening, and was a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church in Grayson, Georgia. She was employed as a secretary with the Gwinnett County School System for over 30 years until her retirement. Gentry Allison, infant, of Sautee, passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018.
Survivors include his parents Michael Allison and Kyrie Hill of Sautee, his brother Avery Allison, grandparents Robyn and William Johnson, great grandmother Nell Waterman, and aunt Kourtney Hill. He is also survived by his grandparents Tim and Kaye Allison, great grandmother Kim Berry as well as a host of additional relatives.

Frances Cleo Howington, age 90 of Cleveland, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2018. Mrs. Howington was born in Jackson County, Georgia to the late Herman Clark and Cleo Smallwood Clark. She was employed at Leece-Neville for 20 years and was a member at Central Baptist Church in Gainesville.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Verlon Howington, her brothers Harold Clark, Hershel “Smiley” Clark, Bill Clark, Cleveland “Cleve” Clark, and Ed Clark. She is also preceded in death by her sisters Montine Collins, Winifred “Wimp” Newell, and Cynthia Samantha Kimbrell.
Mrs. Howington is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 P.M Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Alta Vista Cemetery in Gainesville, Georgia with the Rev. Ricky Casper officiating.

Claude Oscar Warwick, age 80 of Gainesville, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018.
Mr. Warwick was born March 26, 1938 in White County to the late Oscar Bryan Warwick and Ivory Jackson Warwick. Mr. Warwick was a retired auto mechanic. In addition to his parents and stepmother Marie Brown Warwick, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Cleveland, daughter, Lisa Williamson, brothers, Willie Warwick and George Warwick.
Survivors include his granddaughter and husband, Nikki Williamson Nulisch and Judson Nulisch, Gainesville; son-in-law Tim Williamson, Gainesville; sisters, Patricia Weidner, Dahlonega; Evelyn Freeman, Cornelia; Brenda Reed, Cleveland; brother, Edward Warwick, Smyrna.

Charles “Bud” Westmoreland: Obituary

Bud, as he was known to his family and friends, was born to the late Howard and Lillie (Nix) Westmoreland on the 4th of June 1936. He retired from Hanson Aggregates and enjoyed welding and working with metal and breakfast every Sunday with his brother Johnny. He also followed in his Father and older Brother’s footsteps by joining the Army, as did his younger brother.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Maggie Jeanette Loggins and daughter, Lydia Ann Westmoreland.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Tammy Jean and his grandson, Ethan Durkas. He is also survived by his brother, William Westmoreland, his brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Carolyn Westmoreland; his sisters, Jean Underwood, Patricia Butler, and Darlene Spencer. He has many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was a quiet man and bit shy but he had a strong faith and an even stronger love for his family. It is hard to imagine our lives without him, but it gives us peace knowing he is with his Jeanette, his Lydia, and his little dog Buddy. We all love you very much and will always miss you.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11am Thursday, December 13, 2018 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Billy McKinney will officiate. Burial will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-5 pm Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the funeral home.

John Gordon Leggett, age 66 of Cleveland, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018.
Mr. Leggett was born on September 26, 1952, in West Palm Beach, Florida, to Marjorie Coker Leggett and the late Gordon V. Leggett. Since 1983, John was the owner and operator of Mt. View Campground.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Kay Leggett, Cleveland; son, Jonathan Leggett, Cleveland; daughter and son-in-law, crista and Keith Blackwell, Dahlonega; mother, Marjorie Coker Leggett, Cleveland; grandchildren, Zachary Kent Brittain, Nicholas Austin Leggett, Coltin Blackwell, and Kyler Blackwell; great-grandson, Stetson Leggett.

Fletcher Seabolt: Obituary

Mr. Fletcher Seabolt, 81, of Rice Mill Road, Hartwell, passed away Tuesday, October, 23, 2018 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born on March 2, 1937 in Dahlonega GA, he was the son of the late Arch Caleb Seabolt and Julia Ann Wilkins Seabolt. Mr. Seabolt attended North Georgia Tech. He was owner and operator of the Dairy Queen of Hartwell for 48 years and founded Fletcher’s restaurant in 1996. He grew up as a saw miller, was an avid hunter, fisherman and Ham Radio operator. He also supported many community activities. Fletcher was a US Army veteran having served in Germany.
Survivors include his wife: Frances Stover Seabolt; children: Mark Seabolt (Laura) of Hartwell, Ricky Lawson (Charlotte) of Brunswick , Gail Hubbard (Bill) of Hartwell, Beverly Lawson of Hartwell and Ray Dorsey of Hartwell who Fletcher loved as a son; four sisters: Linda Connery (Ron) of Lakewood, FL, Thelma Lance (Jerry) of Cleveland, Callie Copeland of Cornelia, Hilda Fain of Helen; five grandchildren: Wyatt Somers, Evelyn Somers, Ivy Fletcher Seabolt, Wes Lawson, Carly Lawson; one great grandchild Elliot Colsby and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Seabolt was preceded in death by one son: Joey Lawson; one brother: J.D. Seabolt and one sister: Gladys Wehunt.
A memorial service celebrating Fletcher’s life will be held on Monday, October 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Abundant Life Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Brewer, Rev. Mike Hardy and Dr. Hugh Kirby officiating.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Abundant Life Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 237, Hartwell Ga 30643.

Mary Gerrells Lewis, age 89 of Cleveland, passed away on Sunday, October 21, 2018.
Mrs. Lewis was born on January 20, 1929, in Cleveland, Georgia, to the late Haskell and Maude London Gerrells. She was a homemaker and a member of First Congregational Holiness Church of Gainesville. Mary was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Mize, Donnie Whitfield, and Lee Lewis; 5 brothers; 2 sisters.
Survivors include her daughter, Joann Mize Skelton, Cleveland; son, Johnny Mize (Fellis), Cornelia; granddaughter, Donna Jean Parks; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Blanche G. Bishop: Obituary
Obituaries October 9, 2018
Blanche G. Bishop, widow of Cliff D. Bishop, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 3, 2018 at the age of 91. A long time resident of Decatur, and later, Conyers, Georgia, Mrs. Bishop had moved to Sautee Nacochee, Georgia, and taken up residence with her daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Ronald J. Taylor, in the Skylake Community.
Mrs. Bishop is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Bishop Taylor (Ronald), son Hunter L. Bishop (Olivia), and predeceased by her son Scott D. Bishop and her brother, LTC Donald Goldstein. She is survived by grandchildren Whitney B. Taylor; Mary Rachel Taylor Henderson (Bryan); Cliff D. Bishop (Jenny), Douglas Bishop, Brandon Bishop (Vicki), and Chandler Bishop, and great-great grandchildren Amelie and Felicity Bishop. She is also survived by her sister, Frances DeHaven (Harold), of Hampton, Virginia, and sister-in-law, Mariann Goldstein of The Villages, Florida as well as many nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Bishop was born in New York City on September 23, 1927, to Max and Jenny Goldstein. Mr. Goldstein moved his business and family to Hampton, Virginia, in 1932, and Mrs. Bishop graduated at age 16 from Hampton High School. Too young to attend a residential college, she went into the work force and during World War II worked for the WPA helping implement the Dewey Decimal System for the military records management project. Upon the end of the war in 1945, Mrs. Bishop moved to Atlanta and met the love of her life, veteran Cliff Bishop. They married in 1948 and set up housekeeping in Atlanta’s old Fourth Ward. Mr. Bishop established Bishop’s Auto Service and Mrs. Bishop became the bookkeeper as well as raising their three children.
Mrs. Bishop reentered the work force full time after her last child was in school and spent many years as an employee of Southern Bell, later Bell South and eventually AT&T. She began work as an operator and through technical schooling and promotions, retired as a network design engineer after 30 years of service. Following Mr. Bishop’s tragic death in an automobile accident in 1979, Mrs. Bishop worked a few more years, and then began a life of world travel and tournament bridge competition. She and her beloved Lake Capri neighbor and traveling companion Melba Bessinger toured almost every country in Europe as well as Australia and New Zealand. When home, Mrs. Bishop played regularly in various bridge clubs and competed in tournaments well into her 80’s.
Mrs. Bishop was a long time member of Chapel Woods Presbyterian Church while living in the Decatur area and a long time sister in Beta Sigma Phi International Women’s Organization. She always had many loving stories to tell about her sisters in Chapter Xi Alpha Omicron and the great fun they had together for so many years.
A grave side service will be held in Resthaven Gardens of Memory, 2284 Candler Road in Decatur, Georgia 30032, (404-284-1162) at 1:00 p.m., Monday, October 8, 2018. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made in memory of Blanche G. Bishop to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
