Sharon Anita Hicks, age 55 of Demorest, passed away on Wednesday, October 2, 2019.

Mrs. Hicks was born on February 7, 1964, in Gainesville, Georgia, to Marie Wiley Loggins and the late Jimmy McDuffie. She was a homemaker and was of the Christian faith. Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Hicks; brother, Ricky McDuffie.

Survivors include her daughter, Lacey Hicks, Demorest; mother and step-father, Marie and George Loggins, Demorest; grandchildren, Donnie Allison and Jill Hicks; sisters, Tina Howard, Rita Smith, and Regina Warren.

Nannie Louise Arrowood Dean: Obituary

Nannie Louise Arrowood Dean, age 83, of Cleveland passed away October 31, 2019.

Mrs. Dean was born in Towns County Ga., to the late Carlos and Clara Arrowood. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Columbus Wilford Dean Sr,: son, Columbus W. Dean Jr.; Sister Loretta Owens and brother, Dale Arrowood.

Mrs. Dean was a retired telephone operator, homemaker and a member of White Creek Baptist Church.

Survivors include: sons and daughters-in-law, William Clay and Tanya Dean and John Orvil and Lisa Dean, all of Cleveland; grandchildren, Natasha and Chase Youngblood, Haley and Charlie Newman, Hannah Dean and finance Brennan Dougherty ,and Morgan Dean; great-grandchildren, Clara Youngblood, Tucker Newman, Dean Youngblood, Tanner Newman and Scarlett Youngblood; sisters and brother-in-law, Ruth and Glen Gudger, Gloria and Robert E. Dean, Sue and Jerry Cable, Lonnie Owens, Joyce Hughes and Darrell and Shirley Dean; and sister-in-law, Billie Jo Dean.

Funeral services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday Nov. 3, 2019, at White Creek Baptist Church. Mr. Stanley Lawson, The Rev. Garry English, The Rev. Lewis Fortner and The Rev. Henry Loggins will officiate. Burial will follow in the White Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday Nov. 2nd at the funeral home.

Mary Frances Peace: Obituary

Mary Frances Peace, 90, passed away in her home surrounded by loved ones on October 22, 2019.

She was born on August 20, 1929, to Charles H. Smith and Nelle Busha Smith. The last of her generation, she grew up in Stone Mountain, Georgia with her parents, and her seven sisters, Jesse Belle, Guynelle, Jeanie Mae, Geneva, Virginia, Charlette, and her two brothers, Robert and Warren (W.S.). Mary was the youngest of nine and became affectionately known as Penchy to many.

Eventually she moved to Decatur, Georgia where she met the love of her life, Charles (Charlie) Peace. They were married on May 25, 1946, at the ages of 16 and 18. They walked through married life together for 73 years, deeply in love, and always holding hands.

Mary had too many talents to list on a page and enjoyed so many things through the years. She loved to paint and sold many of her works. She loved to create poetry and authored many cherished poems. She loved to spend time on her computer, listening to music, creating family movies, and researching our family genealogy. Her best talent was loving her family and being a wonderful wife, Mom, and Mema.

She is survivied by and deeply missed by her loving husband, Charlie; by her daughter, Marshae Smith; and her two sons, Stehpen and Chad; by her daughter, Donna Runowicz and her husband Dave, and their daughter Inida Dover and her husband Adam, and by their two children Ava and Cooper.

Cleveland Funeral Home & Cremation Services announces that Mr. Preston George Gregory, age 72 of Cleveland, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday, October 17, 2019 at 4:00 pm in the Chapel of Cleveland Funeral Home with Allen Webb officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm – 4:00 pm prior to the service. Interment will be held on Friday, October 18, 2019 at 9:30 am at Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Georgia.

Sadie Evelyn Flanigan, age 95 of Winder, (formerly of Cleveland, GA) passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at NGMC Gainesville.

She was born September 27, 1924 to the late Ellen Dewberry Bankston and Walton H. Bankston of Barnesville, GA.

Sadie was predeceased by her husband of 67 years, Robert “Bob” Flanigan; brother, W.H. Bankston, Jr.  She is survived by daughter, Patricia (Pat) and son-in-law, Greg Geis; sister, Virginia B. Clark; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as her foreign exchange student ‘daughter,” Oya Erenli Sezer, of Istanbul, Turkey.

After completing college at GSCW in Milledgeville, Sadie began teaching high school English in Conyers, GA, where she met Bob on a blind date Halloween night 1945. Sadie and Bob moved away from Conyers and she taught also at Campbell High in Smyrna and Hewitt-Trussville in Trussville, Alabama.

After moving to Florida in 1966, Sadie began her second career as an editor for a publisher of medical and scientific books. This sparked an interest in medicine, and she began her third career working in hospitals.

After retiring from her job as Tumor Registrar at Holy Cross Hospital in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, Sadie and Bob moved to Cleveland, in 1990, where they enjoyed an active ‘mountain’ life and loved to travel the country in the RV.

A private interment will be held in Barnesville, Georgia.

Robert Edwin Dupray, age 77, passed away on October 16, 2019.

 

Mr. Dupray was born on August 12, 1942, in Pittsfield, MA, to the late Clarence and Bella Dupray.  He worked for General Electric and Cottrells.  Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Dupray; brother, David Arnold Dupray.

 

Survivors include his daughters, Melissa Marie Dupray, Murphy, NC, Lisa Ann Hall, Cleveland, Nancylee Warren, Cleveland, Bobbi Jean and Joseph Kisselburg, Murphy, NC; niece, Dawn Bruce, Murrayville; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren.

 

The family will receive friends from 2-4 PM Saturday, October 19, 2019 at the funeral home.

Sharon Faye Schutt, age 77 of Cleveland, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2019.

Mrs. Schutt was born on October 19, 1941, in Almont, Michigan, to the late Orson and Eula Jewell Sugden. She was a teacher, an ordained minister, author, and counselor. Sharon founded the “Women Making a Difference” ministry and taught school in both Florida and Michigan.

Survivors include her husband, Lee Schutt, Cleveland; daughter and son-in-law, Kelli and Scott Miley, Cleveland; grandson, Elijah Nix, Cleveland.

Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Yonah View Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Ted Keene will officiate.

Lisa Marie Durfee, age 52 of Cleveland, passed away on Tuesday, September 10, 2019.

Mrs. Durfee was born on May 23, 1967, in Keene, New Hampshire, to Dorothy Paro Rule and the late Richard Rule. Lisa’s hobbies included thrifting and photography. She loved “Mickey and Minnie” and had worked at the Disney Store, as well as Walt Disney World Resort. Lisa was a member of Helen First Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Victor Durfee, Cleveland; children, Kolby Durfee and fiancé, Cassandra Dispain , Kyana Durfee, Amera Durfee, and Adam Durfee; grandson, Malachi Mooney; mother, Dorothy Huber, Cleveland; sister, Melanie Amerillo; brothers, David Mooney and Chris Role; and mother-in-law, Patricia Durfee.

Memorial services are scheduled for 3:00 P.M. Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Helen First Baptist Church. The Rev. Jim Holmes will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 3:00 P.M. Sunday, prior to the service, at the church.

Barrett Funeral Home of Cleveland announces the death of Mr. Leslie Arthur Green, age 76 of Sautee. Les passed away Friday, August 30, 2019.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 am Saturday, September 14, 2019 in the funeral home chapel with interment to follow at Concord Baptist Church Cemetery.

Les was born on May 17, 1943 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to the late Arthur Green and Ann Galanti Green. He served with honor in the United States Army and later retired as the Southeast Regional Sales Manager for the Zaytran Corporation.
Les will be fondly remembered as a warm man who was straight forward but kind and always had a wealth of good jokes to tell, simply put ‘He loved life”, whether it was taking a long motorcycle trip or just simply being at home with his family.
In addition to his parents, Les is preceded in death by his grandson, Brian Green and his brother Robert Green.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Green of Sautee, daughter and son in law, Kathy and Matthew Stancil of Atlanta; son and daughter in law, Lee and Melendy Green of Norcross; brother and sister in law, Jonathan and Grace Green of Fort Lauderdale, FL; sister and brother in law, Jeanette and Jim Bryant of Sebastian, FL. Lee is also survived by his grandchildren, Adrian Nicole Bollinger as well as Peter, John and Paul Stancil.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, September 13, 2019 between the hours of 4:00pm and 7:00pm.
