WHITE COUNTY, Ga – Agents with the Appalachian Regional Drug Enforcement Office (ARDEO), Department of Community Supervision and White County Sheriff’s Office arrested five people in the Kellum Valley community last week on various drug charges and an outstanding warrant.
The agents also confiscated $15,000 in stolen property.
Those arrested include:
- Nicholas Chaney Toler, 30, of Gainesville, possession of methamphetamine and heroin;
- John David Howard, 42, of Gainesville, outstanding warrant in Hall County;
- Michael Kelly Small, 55, of Cleveland, possession of methamphetamine and Controlled Substance Schedule II (Adderall);
- Stephanie Dawn Watson, 40, of Cleveland, possession of methamphetamine;
- Desiray Lane Rider, 33, of Cleveland, possession of methamphetamine.
The arrests were the result of tips and complaints received from White County citizens.

WHITE COUNTY, Ga. — Timothy Aaron Lott, 32, of Maysville, was arrested by the Cleveland Police Department last week and charged with aggravated assault on an officer, fleeing or attempt to elude, DUI, possession of methamphetamine and multiple motor vehicle violations.
Officer Ray Rutledge stopped Lott on Hwy. 11 at approximately 7:45 p.m. for driving without headlights being illuminated while it was raining. According to the incident report, the officer detected a strong odor of marijuana. When he asked Lott to step out of the vehicle, Lott sped off. The officer reached into the vehicle in an attempt to stop Lott, and was thrown to the ground.
A chase ensued and Lott turned right onto Donald E. Thurmond Parkway where he struck another vehicle and the guardrail then went down an embankment before fleeing on foot into the woods. He was apprehended a short time later and transported to the White County Detention Center.
A search of Lott’s vehicle uncovered a large amount of meth, a brown substance that appeared to be heroin, clear glass smoking device with a white substance that appeared to be meth.
The officer was not seriously injured.

WHITE COUNTY, Ga. – A 39-year-old Murrayville man was charged with possession of methamphetamine and half dozen traffic offenses following a routine traffic safety stop last week near the intersection of Bill Pressley and Ricky West Road.
White County deputies stopped Brian Ballard’s ’97 Ford F150 pickup and discovered the tag had expired by more than two years. When they ran the tag, they learned it did not come back to the pickup truck. During a search of the vehicle, they located a small plastic baggie that contained a white crystal like substance and a pipe.
Ballard was transported to the White County Detention Center. In addition to possession of meth, Ballard was charged with possession of drug related objects, affixing a plate to conceal identity, operation of an unregistered vehicle and failure to wear a seatbelt. Bond was set at $5,000
