Penguin News From North Georgia Safari Park

Community
Wednesday, January 20 is World Penguin Day. In honor of this, North Georgia Safari Park has an announcement to make. Actually, they have several announcements to make!
You may have heard by now that North Georgia Safari Park has become home to four adorable African Black-Footed penguins – Mabel, Beans, Oyster, and Mark. This species is found in the waters off of the South African coast, where they nest on sandy or rocky islands and beaches. Penguins do not fly, but they are excellent swimmers. And they are oh so cute! Sadly though, they are classified as an endangered species, mostly due to commercial fishing in their feeding waters.
Hope Bennett, Park owner/director says, “We are so excited to be a part of this important conservation effort. Our goal, as always, is to Care for these animals, Connect and educate people about them, so that Conservation efforts around the world may be strengthened.
The penguins have gotten all moved in now, and they are ready for you to meet them!”
There are several events planned for people to be introduced to Mabel, Bean, Oyster, and Mark. First, on Wednesday, January 20 at 7:00 pm, sign on to the new Safari Drive-Thru Park Facebook page and watch the Livestream as zookeepers feed our penguins. Viewing is free. Gather your kids around your screen, because they will love it.
Second, “Penguin Encounters” are beginning! The first two encounters will be Saturday, January 23 at 11:00 and Saturday, January 30 at 11:00. Participants will be able to view the penguins live, up close and personal! These “Early Bird Penguin Access” encounters are $150/person + Safari Park admission. Make your reservations on our website.
Third, on Tuesday, January 26, again on Tuesday, February 2, and again on Tuesday, February 9, the park will be live streaming Mabel, Beans, Oyster, and Mark as they enjoy their evening meal of fish, fish, and then more fish. All three of these feeding sessions will take place at 7:00 pm on Zoom. The cost is $10.
Information about all Penguin Project activities may be found at the park website, www.myfavoritezoo.com. North Georgia Safari Park and her sister park, North Georgia Wildlife Park are located right across the road from each other at 2912 Paradise Valley Road in Cleveland, GA.

North Georgia Wildlife Park is delighted to announce the arrival of four new penguins to the park! Mark, Beans, Mabel and Oyster are Black-footed Penguins from South Africa. Like all penguins, they do not fly, but they are adorable when they waddle from one place to another.

Level 1 Sponsorships cost $500 and entitle the sponsor to Safari Park admission and Behind the Scenes Experience for two with the penguins. Also, the sponsors’ name(s) will be featured at the Penguin Exhibit.
Level 2 Sponsorships cost $1,000 and entitle the sponsor to Safari Park admission and Behind the Scenes Experience for two with the penguins. In addition, sponsors will enjoy a Penguin Meet and Greet, where they will be allowed inside the penguin enclosure to interact with and feed the penguins. Also, the sponsors’ name(s) will be featured at the Penguin Exhibit.
Each of the penguin sponsor experiences will last approximately two hours.
The monies received through sponsorships will be used for the completion of the new Penguin Habitat, the feeding and care of the birds, and ongoing penguin conservation efforts carried out by the African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary (www.dict.org.za).
