Motorcyclist who attempted to elude police hospitalized following a fiery crash

WHITE COUNTY, Ga. — A 49-year-old Clermont man suffered second-degree burns Monday after he crashed his motorcycle on US Hwy. 129 at Tommy Cowart Road in White County. No other vehicle was involved in the accident.

According to a Georgia State Patrol report, Bruce E. Morgan’s 2001 Honda CBR motorcycle was engulfed in flames when they arrived at approximately 8:25 pm and Morgan was airlifted to the hospital.

Earlier in the evening, a Dawson County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to stop Morgan’s vehicle for no registration on Ga. 400 near the Lumpkin County line. The deputy experienced radio trouble; lost sight of Morgan’s motorcycle and broke off the chase.

Morgan, who was not being pursued at the time of the crash, will be charged with fleeing and attempt to elude and driving with a suspended license.

 

 

 

Cleveland man killed in motorcycle accident

STEPHENS COUNTY, Ga — A Cleveland man was killed in a motorcycle accident near Toccoa Monday morning.

The Georgia State Patrol reported that Joe Earl Dean, 50, was killed when his 1998 Harley-Davidson FHR was traveling south on Ga. 106 when he traveled off the east shoulder and struck a culvert. The motorcycle overturned and Dean was thrown from the motorcycle.

The wreck happened just before 5 a.m. No other details were immediately available.
