WHITE COUNTY, Ga. — White County Sheriff Neal Walden confirmed today (Aug. 7) that Mercedes Brackett, 28 of Gainesville, was found deceased in the medical center in the White County Detention Center at approximately 8:30 a.m.

The cause of death is unknown at this time. The Sheriff’s Office has requested the GBI conduct an investigation. Sheriff Walden said Ms. Brackett was arrested on a probation violation.
