Claude Oscar Warwick, age 80 of Gainesville, passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018.

Mr. Warwick was born March 26, 1938 in White County to the late Oscar Bryan Warwick and Ivory Jackson Warwick. Mr. Warwick was a retired auto mechanic. In addition to his parents and stepmother Marie Brown Warwick, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Cleveland, daughter, Lisa Williamson, brothers, Willie Warwick and George Warwick.

Survivors include his granddaughter and husband, Nikki Williamson Nulisch and Judson Nulisch, Gainesville; son-in-law Tim Williamson, Gainesville; sisters, Patricia Weidner, Dahlonega; Evelyn Freeman, Cornelia; Brenda Reed, Cleveland; brother, Edward Warwick, Smyrna.

Charles “Bud” Westmoreland

June 04, 1936 – December 09, 2018

Bud, as he was known to his family and friends, was born to the late Howard and Lillie (Nix) Westmoreland on the 4th of June 1936.  He retired from Hanson Aggregates and enjoyed welding and working with metal and breakfast every Sunday with his brother Johnny.  He also followed in his Father and older Brother’s footsteps by joining the Army, as did his younger brother.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Maggie Jeanette Loggins and daughter, Lydia Ann Westmoreland.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Tammy Jean and his grandson, Ethan Durkas.  He is also survived by his brother, William Westmoreland, his brother and sister-in-law, Johnny and Carolyn Westmoreland; his sisters, Jean Underwood, Patricia Butler, and Darlene Spencer.  He has many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was a quiet man and bit shy but he had a strong faith and an even stronger love for his family.  It is hard to imagine our lives without him, but it gives us peace knowing he is with his Jeanette, his Lydia, and his little dog Buddy.  We all love you very much and will always miss you.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11am Thursday, December 13, 2018 from the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Billy McKinney will officiate. Burial will follow in Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-5 pm Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at the funeral home.

John Gordon Leggett, age 66 of Cleveland, passed away on Tuesday, November 20, 2018.

Mr. Leggett was born on September 26, 1952, in West Palm Beach, Florida, to Marjorie Coker Leggett and the late Gordon V. Leggett. Since 1983, John was the owner and operator of Mt. View Campground.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Kay Leggett, Cleveland; son, Jonathan Leggett, Cleveland; daughter and son-in-law, crista and Keith Blackwell, Dahlonega; mother, Marjorie Coker Leggett, Cleveland; grandchildren, Zachary Kent Brittain, Nicholas Austin Leggett, Coltin Blackwell, and Kyler Blackwell; great-grandson, Stetson Leggett.

Mr. Fletcher Seabolt, 81, of Rice Mill Road, Hartwell, passed away Tuesday, October, 23, 2018 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born on March 2, 1937 in Dahlonega GA, he was the son of the late Arch Caleb Seabolt and Julia Ann Wilkins Seabolt. Mr. Seabolt attended North Georgia Tech. He was owner and operator of the Dairy Queen of Hartwell for 48 years and founded Fletcher’s restaurant in 1996. He grew up as a saw miller, was an avid hunter, fisherman and Ham Radio operator. He also supported many community activities. Fletcher was a US Army veteran having served in Germany.

Survivors include his wife: Frances Stover Seabolt; children: Mark Seabolt (Laura) of Hartwell, Ricky Lawson (Charlotte) of Brunswick , Gail Hubbard (Bill) of Hartwell, Beverly Lawson of Hartwell and Ray Dorsey of Hartwell who Fletcher loved as a son; four sisters: Linda Connery (Ron) of Lakewood, FL, Thelma Lance (Jerry) of Cleveland, Callie Copeland of Cornelia, Hilda Fain of Helen; five grandchildren: Wyatt Somers, Evelyn Somers, Ivy Fletcher Seabolt, Wes Lawson, Carly Lawson; one great grandchild Elliot Colsby and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Seabolt was preceded in death by one son: Joey Lawson; one brother: J.D. Seabolt and one sister: Gladys Wehunt.

A memorial service celebrating Fletcher’s life will be held on Monday, October 29, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at the Abundant Life Baptist Church with Rev. Ken Brewer, Rev. Mike Hardy and Dr. Hugh Kirby officiating.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Strickland Funeral Home of Hartwell.   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Abundant Life Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 237, Hartwell Ga 30643.

Mrs. Lewis was born on January 20, 1929, in Cleveland, Georgia, to the late Haskell and Maude London Gerrells. She was a homemaker and a member of First Congregational Holiness Church of Gainesville. Mary was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles Mize, Donnie Whitfield, and Lee Lewis; 5 brothers; 2 sisters.

Survivors include her daughter, Joann Mize Skelton, Cleveland; son, Johnny Mize (Fellis), Cornelia; granddaughter, Donna Jean Parks; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services are scheduled for 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at the Chapel of Barrett Funeral Home. The Rev. Bobby Griffin will officiate. Inurnment will be at Mt. View Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 10:30 A.M. prior to the service on Tuesday.

Teddy Randolph Riley age 74 of Clarkesville, Georgia passed away peacefully after a sudden illness on Friday, May 17, 2019 at 8:25 p.m. at Northeast Georgia Medical Center.

Services will be held at 6 p.m. in the chapel of Cleveland Funeral Home on Highway 129 South in Cleveland, Georgia. Pastor and Mrs. Alfred Gibson from La Blanc, Louisiana will be officiating. ( Mrs. Gibson is Ted Riley’s Niece ).

Ted was born to Hazel Jeanette Riley and Louis Cleo Riley on September 6, 1944 in Winona, Mississippi. Ted is survived by his wife Nancye of 54 years. Siblings; Pat (Sandy) Riley of Hattiesburg, MS. and Jeanette Riley Burns of Chicago, IL. Children; Lisa (Michael) Mills, David Riley, and Ted Riley II. Grandchildren; Kayla Mills Lisnock, Joe Lisnock, Caroline Mills, Brooke Mills, Riley Mills, Nicole Riley. He is also survived by one Great Grandchild, Logan Lisnock, age 3.

Ted and Nancye are both graduates of Delta State University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science Degree the year that it became a University. Ted started a career with JC Penney immediately after college and stayed with JC Penney for 22 years, 1966-1988. Later, he and his wife Nancye had a home insurance business.

For 13 years, 2006-2019 (ages 62 and 64) Mr and Mrs Riley were members of Bethlehem Baptist in Clarkesville, however they chased after Grandchildren to and from many other schools and churches while they were living here. After moving to Clarkesville, the Riley’s felt like they had found Heaven on Earth. Teds Dream was always to live on a golf course. They were able to build a home with no steps on the first level ( age and bones ) and make other changes to the house plan that they loved on a private knoll protected by mountains and trees in the Orchard Community of Clarkesville.

Mr and Mrs Riley began their journey through life living with her parents in Cleveland, Mississippi, and are now saying “goodbye for now” in Cleveland, Georgia.

Rev. Timothy Britt Sangster, age 59, of Cleveland, passed away Monday, February 18, 2019.

Rev. Sangster was born in Lakeland, Georgia to the late Harold Lamar and Evelyn Fendley Sangster.

Rev. Sangster spent over thirty years in the ministry, spending time in Pleasureville, Kentucky, Royston, GA, Washington GA, Clarkesville, GA, with the Georgia Baptist Convention, and in Savannah, GA, and Cleveland, GA. He was the youth minister at Cleveland First Baptist Church, a position which he held for ten years. Rev. Sangster recently worked at Crete Carrier and Mansfield Oil.

Survivors include wife, Sherri Sangster, Cleveland; sons and daughters-in-law, Britt and Charissa Sangster, and Linton and Kim Sangster; daughter, Laura Sangster; grandchildren, Jacob Sangster, Finley Sangster, Kegan Sangster; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jonathan and Caroline Sangster and Nathan and Melissa Sangster.

A Memorial service will take place 2 P.M. Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Cleveland First Baptist Church. The Rev. Dennis Turner and the Rev. John Brown will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 pm Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the funeral home.

Cleveland Funeral Home announces that Mrs. Gloria Hewett Thompson age 71, of Cleveland, Georgia passed away surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, February 14, 2019. Gloria was born on February 17, 1947 in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina to James Edwin Hewett and Helen Chadwick Hewett. She was a member of Riverpoint Community Church in Habersham County.

Gloria was employed by the late Jim Wilkins in 1978 at Orbit MFG in the accounting Department. After Orbit MFG was sold, she was employed by Mr. Wilkins once he established Wilco with his sons. She remained employed full time for years, later becoming a part time secretary and accounts manager. She remained in this position until this past fall as her health continued to decline. The Thompson family wishes to acknowledge and sincerely thank the Wilkins family for the love and kindness she received from the entire family over the last 40 years.

Gloria is survived by her husband, Brien Thompson with whom she would have celebrated 53 years of marriage on March 5th of this year; Mother, Helen Chadwick Hewett of Habersham County; Daughter, Deborah A. Moss of Cleveland; Son and Daughter in Law Alan and Khrys Thompson of Gainesville. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Riverpoint Community Church, located on Ansley Rd. in Demorest, Ga. on February 21, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the same location.
