Lumpkin Uses 35-point 2nd Q to Win Shootout

If you like offense, then hopefully you were in attendance for the Indians and Warriors game last Friday night. Lumpkin scored five touchdowns in the second quarter to give themselves enough space to win this game, 56-35. There were 899 combined yards in Friday nights barnburner. Unfortunately for the Warriors, it was Nix’s interception, in the second that resulted in a Pick 6, that turned the tide of the game. Warrior’s fans have seen this story before as Nix’s multiple turnovers were a big factor in this one.
Team Notes
For the victorious Indians, their fans were able to witness another similar story from their quarterback. After a seven TD performance last week, Cooper Scott carried his momentum into this week by adding five more TDs. Scott finished 13/19 for 185 yards and a touchdown in the air and added 229 yards on the ground on 23 carries and four more touchdowns. Mason Sullens finished with 75 yards on 19 carries for two touchdowns and caught two passes for 50 yards and the Scott TD pass. Cal Faulkner led the way in receiving yards with 69 yards on six catches. Senior Cam Stringer led the defense with nine total tackles. While Caleb Norrell finished with five tackles and the crucial Pick 6. Tavion Lawrence had the other interception for the Indians.
As for White County, their season is really in jeopardy after this loss. QB Tripp Nix finished 11/17 for 209 yards, two TDs, two INTs, and 40 yards on the ground. RB Ryan Fowler fell just short of his third straight 100-yard performance as he finished with 92 yards and one TD on the ground. He did however, led the Warriors in receiving with 128 yards on five catches and a TD. Junior Cam Wilson added 65 yards on the ground and two TDs while WR Kane Lowery brought in the other Nix TD pass.
Look Ahead
Lumpkin will finally return home, for their biggest game of the year against the Dawson Tigers as the winner claims the region title. Be sure to tune in to FYN TV to watch Noah Johnson and I call the game. As for the Warriors, their season hangs in the balance as they will need to win out and get some help. They will travel to Pickens County next Friday.

Chatooga- QB Quarry Gibson 95 total yards, 1 TD
The QB struggled a bit throwing the ball but he was able to connect with Trey Smith for the only Indians score of the game as well as leading the team in rushing yards averaging 6 YPC.
North Murray- Tyler Henry
Gilmer- RB Will Kiker 14 Car, 133 Yds, 9.5 YPC, 2 Tds, 243 all purpose yards, 6 Tot Tckls
Get to know the name. Kiker may be the best player in this region. He paired with Brock Titus and Hunter Watkins to combine for 339 rushing yards. The senior led the team in rushing yards and was tied for the team lead in rushing TDs while also making his presence felt on the defensive side of the ball.
Dawson- RB/LB Kade Moledor 6 Car, 71 Yds, 2 Tds, 7 Tot Tckls, 1 TFL
The captain of this Tigers team got it done again as he was able to pick up two rushing TDs in the first half, including one big 37 yard TD. He also notched 7 tackles which led the team as well as adding a TFL.
Lumpkin- WR Cal Faulkner 10 Rec, 209 Yds, 3 TDs, 5 Tot Tckls
Lumpkin dominated Pickens and Faulkner was a big reason why. His name was mentioned all night. He was Cooper Scott’s favorite target as he accounted for 79% of Scott’s passing yards.
Pickens- LB Kadyn Hampton 13 Tot Tckls, 2 QB hurries
Not a lot went the Dragons way on Friday night, but senior Kadyn Hampton had a solid performance leading the Dragons defense in tackles while also getting in the backfield a few times.
Fannin- QB Elijah Weaver 9/15, 215 Yds, 5 TDs
Talk about a good day, 5 TDs on 9 passes! Weaver showed up this last Friday leading the Rebels to a big shutout win over Gordon Central.
