Cleveland city Council Ward 4 –CJ McDonald
CLEVELAND, Ga. – Two seats were up for grabs tonight for the Cleveland City Council.
Ward 3 with Kevin Stanley (I) being challenged by Jeremy McClure and Ward 4 with Bradley Greene (I) being challenged by CJ McDonald.
It was announced that newcomer McClure won Ward 3, 187 votes to 158 votes, to Stanley and newcomer McDonald won Ward 4, 263 to 86 votes, to Greene
“A candidate must receive a majority (50% + 1) of the votes in order to be elected to office,” as stated by the official City of Cleveland website.
Both challengers beat their opponents who were incumbents for the city council seat.
FYN spoke with both winning candidates after the results were announced.
“I want to thank everyone who came out and voted today and early voted, regardless of who you voted for. I am just excited to have this opportunity to help the city of Cleveland grow, hopefully prosper and bring a little extra life into this town,” McClure said.
McDonald shared in his excitement and was looking forward to serving the city of Cleveland.
“It is humbling to know that the citizens of Cleveland have placed their faith in me to do a good job and to help lead the city for the next 4 years. I am humbled, honored and ready to get to work,” McDonald said.
City council members serve a 4-year term and in Cleveland, Ga. the election years are staggered.
Every two years an election is held and Ward 1, ward 2 and Mayor are voted on and then the next election year it is Ward 3 and Ward 4.
