Gainesville man killed in Monday morning crash


WHITE COUNTY, Ga. – A 36-year-old Gainesville man lost his life in a single-vehicle accident on Skitts Mountain Road in Clermont Monday morning.

Georgia State Patrol Troopers from Post 6 investigated the accident. According to the report, Jake Chambers was driving west on Skitts Mountain Road in a 2000 Ford Mustang when he failed to negotiate a right curve and traveled across the roadway and off the left shoulder. The vehicle hit a ditch and began to overturn as it traveled down an embankment. It then vaulted over its front end and came to rest upside down.

The vehicle had to be towed due to disabling damage. GA Plate: RSY7947 was displayed on the rear of the vehicle but registered to another vehicle.

Mr. Chambers had to be extricated from the vehicle and was pronounced deceased on the scene 7:40 a.m.
