CLEVELAND, Ga. — White County authorities have charged Joesph Patrick Williams, 27 of Cleveland, with battery, one count of cruelty to children in the first degree and three counts of cruelty to children in the third degree.
Deputies with White County Sheriff’s Office were called to a residence on White Street on May 27 by Williams wife, Brittany Lynn, who said her husband struck their 3-year-old son in the face, neck and back repeatedly to punish him.
The deputies located the husband sitting on a porch across the street from his residence. Williams admitted he had been drinking and tried to strike his son on the rear end but missed and struck him in the face and neck.
Williams was arrested and transported to White County Detention Center.
Authorities also reported the incident to the Department of Human Resources.
