CLEVELAND, Ga. – Deputies from the White County Sheriff’s Office arrested William Arthur Russell, 54, of Cleveland last week on a charge of violation of a family violence court order and willful obstruction of officers.
According to the incident report, Deputy Jason Abercrombie responded to a 911 call from Russell’s wife Patty Russell on May 14 at 4:52 a.m. who said her husband was at the home in violation of bond conditions that flowed from his arrest on a simple assault charge the previous month.
Russell said her husband was intoxicated and was being physically and mentally abusive to her.
William Russell told the deputy he did not have any bond conditions but dispatch confirmed that a court ordered him to stay away from the home. When the handcuffs were placed on him, Russell headbutted Abercrombie, knocking him to the floor. A struggle ensued and the deputy was able regain control of the situation.
Additional deputies arrived on the scene and helped place Russell in a patrol car and transport him to White County Detention Center where he was held without bond.
