Cleveland man charged with three counts battery

CLEVELAND, Ga. – Tony Eli Martin, of Cleveland was arrested Sunday evening and charged with three counts of battery, following an argument with his girlfriend at 61 Sunshine Lane in Cleveland.

Deputies with White County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call for a physical domestic in progress and found Martin, who, according to the arrest report, “could barely maintain his balance and had extremely slurred speech.”

Laurie Gail Duncan, 57, told deputies she awoke to find Martin and Taylor Corrine Stevens, 20, his girlfriend, involved in a fistfight and tried to separate them when Burton Longwell, 82, entered the room and also tried to separate the two.

Longwell stated Martin then shoved him down a set of steps causing him to hit his head on a desk. Stevens suffered a busted lip and bruised arms and Duncan had a cut finger. Non requested medical attention.

Martin also he had an outstanding warrant from Hall County. He was arrested and transported to White County Detention Center.
