Sautee woman charged with cruelty to children

CLEVELAND, Ga. – Susan Lynn Maxwell, 47 of Sautee, was arrested last week and charged with cruelty to children causing excessive physical or mental pain. She is being held on $5,000 bond at the White County Detention Center.

According to the incident report, Deputy Daniel Amoling met with Maxwell’s husband Phillip Maxwell in the lobby of the sheriff’s office who said he had been advised by the Department of Family and Children’s Services to complete a domestic violence report against his wife for an incident that took place on March 20 or face the possibility of going to jail himself. DFACS also advised him to obtain a temporary protective order against his wife in reference to the incident.

Philip stated that on March 20, his wife man handled their son but would not go in to any more detail. Amoling issued Philip a card with a case number and referred Philip to the White County Court House in reference to the protective order. He also advised him he could complete a warrant application at the court house if he witnessed the incident.
