UPDATE: White County damage assessment

CLEVELAND, Ga. — White County officials have completed preliminary damage assessment from subtropical storm Alberto.  Public Safety Director David Murphy said no injuries and no requests for individual assistance have been reported.

Murphy said there has been numerous damage to vehicles and buildings around the river in Helen and at the Air Stream park on GA. 75 North.

The 9-1-1 call center continues to receive reports of roadways flooded or impassible due to rainfall during last 24 hours.

Murphy also reported the following:

County roadways that are closed:

Sandy Flatts Road between Gene Nix Rd and Silver Falls Rd

Bottoms Road off GA Hwy. 17

Roy Powers Road @ the Bridge

County roadways that are damaged but passible if caution is taken:

Bean Creek Road off GA Hwy. 356

Carolina Springs Road off Helen Hwy

Chastain Road

US Forest Service Road impassible without 4WD:

Trey Mountain Road north of Rice Cabin Falls is closed unless 4WD capable.

State Highways:

GA State Route 75 north of Helen between Robertstown and Unicoi Gap.  Detour has been esta lished by Georgia Department of Transportation.

Murphy added that county officials will continue to monitor the current situation and additional rainfall over the next 24 hours.
