John Solmon qualifies for Board of Education race

CLEVELAND, Ga. — John Solmon was the lone candidate to qualify for the May 22 General Primary election Wednesday. Solmon will campaign for the White County Board of Education District 3 post.
In addition to several local races, there is also an important race for Georgia House of Representatives District 9, where incumbent Kevin Tanner, of Dawsonville, and Mark Hajduk, of Cumming, have qualified.
Others who qualified earlier in the week include incumbent District 3 Commissioner Edwin Nix and incumbent District 2 Commissioner Lyn Holcomb, who is being challenged by Mike Boswell.
Two Board of Education seats are also up for grabs. The candidates in District 2 are Carly Adam and incumbent Charlie Bryson.
In the District 4 Board of Education race, incumbent Barry Vandiver has qualified.
The May General Primary will be held May 22, 2018, with a voter registration deadline of April 23.
Qualifying will continue through this week, ending March 9 at noon. All persons wishing to participate as a candidate in the 2018 election will need to qualify by this time.
