CLEVELAND, Ga. – White County Certified Emergency Response Team (C.E.R.T.) Coordinator Ray Stevens provided this update on the county’s disaster planning meeting for Hurricane Irma Sunday morning.

Stevens said that White County should expect sustained winds of 30-45 mph with wind gusts up to 75 mph. Tornados are possible along with hazards from flooding, falling trees and downed power lines.

Traffic from evacuees and gas shortages can be expected in the next few days. Shelters have been designated. CERT’s commitment is to provide 15 volunteers to help where needed including the command center.
