Teen Leads State Patrol on a Chase Through Lumpkin and White Counties

WHITE COUNTY, Ga. – A Gainesville teenager led Georgia State Patrol in a two-county car chase that began about 9:15 p.m. Wednesday on Ga. Hwy. 60 in Lumpkin County and ended on Hwy. 115 in White County when Cadet Richard Holman executed a pit maneuver ending the chase.
According to Robin Moore of the Georgia State Patrol office in Cumming, “The suspect vehicle, a 2017 Jeep Patriot, immediately fled from Trooper 1st Class Gianoulis of Post 37 in Cumming and Cadet Holman, who is in field training, when they attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
The driver of the Jeep, Devon Reid, 18, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act, felony fleeing and attempting to elude, misdemeanor obstruction and numerous other charges.
A passenger in the vehicle, Dylan Reid, 17, of Gainesville, was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Both were transported to the Lumpkin County Detention Center.
The other passengers in the Jeep were identified as Erin Pope, 17, of Dawsonville and Eric Cox, 22, of Flowery Branch and a 16-year-old female. They were released into their parents custody.
