Advanced, In-Person Voting Ends Today

News

CLEVELAND, Ga. — White County voters are turning out in record numbers.

Chief Registrar Lisa Manning reports that as of 5 p.m. Thursday, 5.982 votes had been cast in person. That far exceeds the previous high of 4,400 advanced, in-person votes in the 2012 presidential election, not counting mail in ballots.  White County has just over 14,000 active registered voters.

“The turnout has been wonderful,” Manning said. “White County is really turning out for this election. We’ve averaged more than 400 a day throughout the advanced voting period.”

Today is the last day to vote early and the polls close at 5 p.m. The lone polling location in White County is the Mauney Building next to the Senior Center at 1241 Helen Highway.

Manning reminds voters to bring their I.D. and that no advertising such as shirts or caps with a candidate’s name is allowed.

Absentee ballots must be at the Board of Elections by the time polls close on Tuesday. Since it is so close to Election Day, if you haven’t mailed your ballot yet, the best way to make sure your vote is counted is to deliver it by hand to the Board of Elections. Even if your ballot is postmarked by Nov. 8, it will not be read if it arrives at the Board of Elections after Nov. 8.
