HELEN, Ga. — Andrew Domingues, 18, was injured Thursday while skateboarding on Sussenstrasse in Helen, Ga.

Helen Police Chief Brian Stephens said, “There is a very steep hill on that street that goes almost straight up and down. Mr. Stephens was not wearing a helmet when he fell and struck his head and received a significant head injury.”

Stephens said when police arrived, Domingues got up and ran but collapsed in a ditch. “We’re not sure why he ran whether it was fear or what,” he added.

“We secured a landing zone for the helicopter and he was airlifted to the hospital.”

Stephens did not know which hospital Domingues was transported to. “They make that decision in flight,” he said. “Hopefully he will be all right. We just don’t know.”
