White County Voters to Decide on Revisions to Alcohol Ordinance
News May 3, 2016
CLEVELAND, Ga. — The White County Board of Commissioners made one revision to the county’s alcohol ordinance Monday but left it up to voters to decide if others should be allowed.
The revision that was adopted allows specific retail package licensees to offer samplings of their product to customers not to exceed 2 ounces and four samples per customer. This, they said, will place other licensees on an equal footing with area wineries that are already allowed to offer samplings.
Commissioners approved calling for a referendum on the sale of distilled spirits by the drink for restaurants, the Sunday sale of distilled spirits or alcohol by the drink and package sale of malt beverages and wine on Sunday;
In other action by the Board, commissioners unanimously approved:
The Legacy Link local share commitment agreement for FY 2017 in the amount of $9,450;
The purchase of maintenance tools in the amount of $7,755;
Placing a 1999 John Deere Gator assigned to the YMCA on the surplus list to be sold on Govdeals;
A revision to the White County employee retirement plan related to a reinstatement required by the IRS;
The FY 2017 Emergency Services contract with Northeast Georgia Health Systems in the amount of $800,000 that runs for three years and is renewable annually;
The lease of the Historic Jail Building to the Chamber of Commerce for 20 years at $1 annually;
Renewal of the employee health insurance coverage with Alliant Healthcare for FY 2017 in the amount of $1,738,224, which represents a premium reduction of $156,000 annually;
Awarding the GDOT Local Maintenance Improvement Grant (LMIG) project on Webster Road to the low bidder, Allied Paving, in the amount of $509,590.25.
