Ray E. Meaders, age 91, of Cleveland, passed away Saturday, September 5, 2015 at his residence.

Mr. Meaders was born in White County the son of the late Wiley Christopher and Ruth Kincaid Meaders. He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Meaders, brother, Wiley Christopher Meaders Jr., and sister, Wirtha Morgan. Mr. Meaders was a chicken farmer, a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving in World War II and member of Mossy Creek United Methodist Church. He served on the Board of Directors of Habersham Electric from 1959 until his death, and also served on the Board of Directors of Farm Bureau, White County Farmer’s Exchange, Oglethorpe Electric, and REA.

Survivors include sons and daughters in law, Michael LeRay and Nancy Josephine Meaders; Carl Kenneth and Melissa Ann Meaders; and Richard Abraham and Sherri Lynn Earnhardt Meaders; sons, James Elisha Meaders and Paul Dwayne Meaders; daughter and son in law, Alisa Meaders Velazquez and Edward Velazquez; grandchildren, Michael Jason Meaders, BJ and Rachel Meaders, Joshua Carl and Kris Meaders, Storie Kathleen Allison and Heath Allison, James Gregory Meaders, JJ and Renee Hughes, Tricia and Sean Ruth, Terry Dwayne Meaders, Diamond Danett and Eric James Gowan, Brandon Ray Pontes, Marshall Derrick Pontes, Alexandria Josephine Velazquez, Edward Spencer Velazquez, Hailey Frances Meaders, Kaitlyn Kaye Meaders; great-grandchildren, Alexander Jason Meaders, Ansley McKenna, Abigail Camille Thomas, Andrew Ray Meaders (due December 23, 2015), Kendall Carlyn Allison, Autry Kathleen Allison, Nyla Rose Meaders, Kevin Adam Meaders, Sydney Brooke Hughes, Hayden Andrew Hughes, Mary Carter Ruth, Michael Tate Ruth, Wyatt Christopher Gowan, Brennan Wayne Ehrefeld, Frances Cathrine Joy Valentine, and Braden James Ray Gowan; great-great grandchildren, Ella Rose Thomas, Aiden Scott Gowan, and Earlyn Fay Gowan (due January 31, 2016).

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2pm Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from Mossy Creek United Methodist Church. The Rev. Mark Gunter, Rev. Don Landen and Rev. Nanci Hicks will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 6-9 Sunday and 2-4 and 6-9 Monday at the funeral home.
