CLEVELAND, Ga. — Three more alleged gang members were arrested Monday in connection with the July 1 shooting death of 21-year-old Savon Smith of Cleveland.

Christopher Courville,17, of Cleveland was arrested last week and charged with murder. Since then charges of theft by receiving, making false statements and violation of the Georgia Gang Statute have been added.

On Monday, deputies arrested Chase Wilson, 19, of Cleveland, Conner Daniel, 18, of Alto, and a 16-year-old juvenile. The shooting took place at the home of the juvenile at 50 Eagle Ridge Trail. All are reportedly members of a gang known as Bout That Action (BTA).

Wilson is charged with entering autos and violation of the Georgia Gang Statute, Daniel has been charged with entering autos, violation of the Georgia Gang Statute, concealing a death, tampering with evidence and providing false statements to police. The juvenile has been charged with entering autos, and violation of the Georgia Gang Statute.

White County Chief Deputy Bob Ingram said Daniel called 9-1-1 and reported the shooting as a suicide. But an investigation by White County deputies and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation revealed the crime scene was not consistent with a suicide.

“It was apparent the crime scene had been staged,” Ingram said.
The juvenile was taken to the juvenile detention center while the others are in the White County Jail.

Ingram said he does not believe the shooting was gang related.
