Tree Stand Leaves White County Man Hanging Upside Down For Four Hours

CLEVELAND – A White County man spent more than four hours hanging upside down from a tree stand Wednesday night before his cries for help were answered.
The man told first responders he had been checking his tree stand when he lost his footing and turned upside down. The man began calling for help since around 4:30 p.m. A neighbor heard the cries for help, but couldn’t locate him.
The call to a person in distress in the area of Ashley Drive off Webster Lake Road was received about 8:30 p.m. and the Sheriff’s Office and White County Emergency Medical Services responded.
Firefighters made entry with the assistance of a neighbor with an ATV carrying personnel and equipment and located the man hanging upside down from a tree stand.
Rego Cano and Josh Daniels of About Time Tree Service live in the area and provided assistance to White County emergency personnel, who set up a rigging system to lower him to the responders.
He was taken by ambulance to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for treatment of what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries.
Neighbors provided the ATV used to transport emergency personnel and equipment to the scene and back to the emergency vehicles. White County Fire Chief Norman Alexander brought the county Polaris (ATV), where the patient was placed once evaluated by EMS and taken to the waiting ambulance.
No Autopsy Results Yet, But Deputy Suspects Homicide

CLEVELAND, Ga. – White County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Bob Ingram said late Friday afternoon that he would not speculate on the motive in the death of 66-year-old Wayne Alexander but he did confirm that there is a homicide investigation underway.
Alexander’s body was found by his ex-wife who said she went to check on him at his home on Craven Road Wednesday because of some physical problems he had.
The body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for an autopsy. Ingram said he has not received the results of that autopsy yet. “We don’t know the cause ore the motive yet, but we are looking at suspects,” he said.
Mother Cat, Kittens Zip Tied Together All Four Kittens Die

WHITE COUNTY, Ga. — A property owner heard the cries of a mother cat last week and went to investigate. What she discovered must have been horrifying. It was an adult cat zip tied to her four kittens and discarded into a stand of Kudzu.
One of the kittens was already dead and, although the cat and her three remaining kittens were rushed to Cleveland Veterinarian Hospital, all but the mother cat died within the next 24 hours.
The incident took place on Hwy. 255 South in White County and White County Public Safety Director David Murphy said, “I haven’t been working with animal control very long, but this is the worst case of animal abuse that I have seen.”
Murphy said he believes someone drove by and attempted to throw the cats into a nearby creek but missed and threw them into the Kudzu instead.
The White County Sheriff’s Office is investigating.
The cat was picked up from Cleveland Veterinary Hospital and later transferred to Angels Among Us Rescue for Special Needs.
Teen Charged With Murder in Shooting Death

CLEVELAND, Ga. — Seventeen-year-old Christopher Courville was arrested Friday and charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of Savon A. Williams of Cleveland.
Deputies from the White County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 9-1-1 call that was first reported as a suicide at 50 Eagle Ridge Trail in the small but affluent Eagles Landing Subdivision where homes run in the $300,000 to $600,000 range.
They found Williams dead of a gunshot wound in the basement of the home. Deputies found the death to be suspicious and called the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for assistance.
Chief Deputy Bob Ingram said there were four people in the basement at the time the incident occurred but they were not identified.
