Board will honor Vietnam Vets, CASA and county basketball teams Monday

WHITE COUNTY, Ga. – Monday March 28 will be a day for the White County Board of Commissioners to issue proclamations to honor several important organizations during a combined called meeting and work session starting at 4:30 p.m.
First, the Board will present a proclamation to Northeast Georgia Veterans Society in honor of “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day.”
Next will be a proclamation in recognition of the White County Parks and Recreation basketball teams that participated in the 2022 Georgia State Parks and Recreation Association state championships.
And finally, the Board will issue a proclamation to the Enotah Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) in honor of April being Child Abuse Prevention Month.
Public Works Director Derick Canupp will provide an update on the bidding process for spring and summer road projects.
The Board will consider Marlon Luce’s request to redistrict 1.09 acres at 120 Hogan Road in Cleveland from C-1 Community Commercial District to R-1 Single-family residential.
Also to be considered is Kenneth and Margaret Kahle’s request for a conditional use permit on 1.22 acreage at 6829 Highway 75 Alternate in Helen to participate in the county’s short-term rental program.
Finance Director Jodi Ligon will present the monthly financial status report.
