Routine traffic stop is not so routine after all

WHITE COUNTY, Ga. – A routine traffic stop of a speeding vehicle on Sunday turned out to be more serious than first expected when the driver, 19-year-old Nicholas Castillo of Gainesville was found to have a gun tucked into his waistband, THC vapes – a Schedule I drug – marijuana, and multiple containers of alcohol.

Cleveland Police Chief Jeff Shoemaker said the narcotics were packaged and ready for distribution.

Castillo was charged with speeding, open container, possession of alcohol under 21, possession of marijuana less than 1 ounce, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of a Schedule I drug, possession of a Schedule I drug with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

He was transported to the White County Detention Center without bond.
