WHITE COUNTY, Ga. – The White County Board of Commissioners met in regular session Monday (Oct. 5) to discuss the voter approved 2014 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) before moving into an executive session.
SPLOST Manager Kevin Hamby presented the update which represented good news for the county. With two months left before it expires, SPLOST has generated $26,265,675 more than $7 million above its projection.
SPLOST expenditures for the month of August include 1,321,387 for Roads and Bridges, $381,126 for Public Safety and $943,702. The Debt Service payment includes the final payment on the jail bond.
County offices will be closed Monday, Oct. 12 in observance of Columbus Day. The Board’s next work session will be Monday, Oct. 26 and the next regular meeting will be Monday, Nov. 2 at 4:30 p.m.
