WHITE COUNTY — Units from the White County Fire Department and U.S. Forest Service battled a wildfire that consumed 22 acres northwest of Helen Saturday.
Holly Krake, spokeswoman for the U.S. Forest Service, said the fire was started by a human but the exact cause remains under investigation. The fire was fully contained by Sunday but Krake said fire managers will continue to monitor and patrol the area.
Information on the U.S. Forest Service Facebook page described the fire location as being in rugged terrain in the Upper Chattahoochee River area west of Ga. 75.
The fire first was reported around 3 p.m. Saturday to White County 9-1-1.
