CLEVELAND, Ga. – White County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a combative 57-year-old Jerry Trigg at his home on New Bridge Road Aug. 21, following a brief standoff during which he threatened to kill the deputies.
Corporal Reginald Cantrell responded to a call regarding a domestic dispute at 4860 New Bridge Road. Trigg’s wife Donna Trigg told the deputy her husband has a history of abusing methamphetamine and that he appeared to be under the influence of something. She said he grabbed her by the arm in an attempt to take her cell phone and threatened to kill himself before retreating to the home’s basement.
According to the incident report, Trigg warned the deputy her husband may be armed and that he had threatened to kill himself.
As Cantrell and deputy Adam Ramey approached, Trigg was sitting in a dark basement. He refused to show officers his hands when ordered to do so and threatened to “blow them away.”
Trigg then raised his hands and attempted to charge the deputies
When Trigg got closer, Cantrell could see he wasn’t holding a weapon but was holding a bag. Trigg then lunged at Cantrell who moved out of the way, holstered his duty weapon and drew his taser. As Trigg attempted to retreat back into the basement, Cantrell deployed his taser to prevent Trigg from potentially retrieving a weapon and using it against them.
Ramey and deputy Dillon Edward Brady placed the still struggling Trigg in handcuffs. As they carried him to the patrol car, he attempted to kick them. Once he was secured and calmed down, Cantrell checked Trigg for weapons and discovered several knives in his pockets. The also located a pellet rifle in the basement.
White County EMS transported Trigg to Habersham Medical Center to have the taser prongs removed.
He was then transported to the White County Detention Center where he is charged with three counts of felony obstruction of law enforcement officers and two counts of terroristic threats and acts.

CLEVELAND, Ga. — White County deputies arrested Cale Lee Abernathy, 32, of Helen Sunday and charged him with aggravated assault, battery and cruelty to children following a domestic dispute at his residence at 316 Caffus Abernathy Road.
Abernathy’s wife Carie, 39, said the couple argued over his friend coming to spend the night. She further alleges that she scratched him in the face in an effort to get away to call 911. When the friend arrived, he pulled her husband off her and walked him outside just as White County deputies arrived.
The deputy noticed she had sustained injuries to her head, lip, eye and arm and he took photos of her injuries, arrested Abernathy and transported him to the White County Detention Center.
Bond was set at $1,000 on the aggravated assault charge, $5,000 on the battery charge and $1,000 on the cruelty to children in the third degree charge. He has since bonded out.
