White County Sheriff’s Office is investigating report of alleged child molestation at daycare facility

News

CLEVELAND, Ga. – White County Sheriff’s Captain Rick Kelley issued a press release recently stating that his office is investigating a report of a possible child molestation incident at a White County daycare facility.

Kelley said the child’s grandmother reported the alleged incident she said occurred Oct. 15 while the child was at daycare. The child was taken to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for a sexual assault exam.

Investigators followed up with the daycare facility the next day and said the owners and staff were very cooperative. Investigators interviewed several staff members and some other people associated with the daycare.

Investigators then spent a couple of days reviewing numerous hours of surveillance video from the daycare. The sexual assault exam did not show any obvious signs of trauma. The sexual assault kit has been submitted to the GBI crime lab for testing.

At this point in the investigation there is no evidence that any sexual assault occurred. The case will remain open pending the results of the sexual assault exam which usually takes several months.
