Wind chill could drop to 10 below zero tonight
Business January 3, 2018PEACHTREE CITY, Ga. – The National Weather Service issued the latest urgent winter weather message at 11:32 a.m. Thursday.
A wind chill advisory remains in effect from 9 p.m. until noon Thursday for the following counties: Dawson, Lumpkin, White, Dade, Walker, Catoosa, Whitfield, Murray, Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Chatooga, Gordon and Pickens.
* WHAT…Very cold wind chills expected. Expect wind chills to range from 5 below zero to 10 below zero.
* WHERE…Portions of north central, northeast and northwest Georgia.
* WHEN…From 9 PM this evening to noon EST Thursday.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS…The cold wind chills will cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will combine to create low wind chills. Frost bite and hypothermia can occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and gloves.
