Mrs. Frantie Lavada Dorsey: Obituary
Obituaries April 29, 2017Mrs. Frantie Lavada Dorsey, age 77 of Cleveland. Lavada passed away Saturday, April 29, 2017. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00pm, Friday, May 5, 2017 at Woodlawn Baptist Church with Rev. Derek Howard, Rev. Rondal Garmon and Rev. Brent Penland officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery with Rev. Danny Kastner officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 5:00 to 8:00pm
Lavada was born in Habersham County on July 15, 1939 to the late Rev. J.V. Morris and Nellie Terry Morris. For a number of years, Lavada was a hairdresser and she enjoyed a long and prosperous career. But her real passion was serving God through her music, both singing and songwriting. Over the years, Lavada sang at countless funeral and church meetings and was a faithful and dedicated child of God. She truly exemplified Christ in her walk while on this earth and this example will be sweetly remembered by those who knew her. Lavada would spend her last days communing with God through prayer and testimony, her one desire was for those who have not accepted Christ as their personal savior to do so without delay.
Lavada and her late husband, Kenneth were longtime active members of Woodlawn Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Pamelah Dorsey Howard of Jefferson; son, David Dorsey (Kelly) of Gainesville; brother, Richard Morris (Dorothy) of Cornelia; sisters Emily Anderson (Andy), Sarah Harrison Boatwright and Deborah Burrell (Wendell), Barbara Morris all of Cornelia; grandchildren include Shay Pardue, Rev. Derek Howard (Tabitha), Miranda Dorsey, Kayla White (Shaun) as well as great grandchildren, Madyson, Landon, Charlie and Justin Howard,Cedrick Pardue, Joshua Cole Watson, MacKenzie and Lilah White and C.J. Reynolds. In addition to her husband, Kenneth Dorsey, Lavada is preceded in death by her sister Margie Clark
