CLEVELAND, Ga. — White County High School football coach Bill Ballard has resigned effective immediately.
Ballard will remain as a history teacher and coach of the track team. He was in his sixth year as head football coach.
Ballard said in a press release that his desire to serve as head football coach is “just no longer there.”
Principal John Osborne said, “Bill is a very unselfish man and cares about the student athletes at White County. He has had tremendous success at other schools and gave up a lot to move his family to the mountains. He is an exceptional track coach and has assisted in making that program very successful.”
School Superintendent Dr. Jeff Wilson said, “Coach Ballard has always been about building character in young men while trying to put the best product he could on the football field. He has had a very positive impact on the lives of many young men in White County and we are grateful for the time he has been here as our head football coach. I am excited Coach Ballard is planning on staying with us to coach track and teach history. Coach Ballard is a phenomenal track coach and has really helped to grow our track program during his tenure here.”
