Cleveland, White County Firefighters Respond to House Fire

CLEVELAND, Ga. — After a busy weekend that saw the Cleveland Fire Department respond to some 28 emergencies, they were busy again Monday afternoon, battling a house fire at 90 Jacobs Drive south of Cleveland.

They were called to the scene by the homeowner who was cooking in the microwave saw flames and disconnected the power to the unit.

When they arrived, firefighters saw smoke showing from the front door, made a quick attack and extinguished the fire.

The kitchen sustained substantial damage as the fire extended to the interior walls of the kitchen. Two kittens were rescued from the front of the structure. The Red Cross was called to assist the occupant. No injuries were reported.
