Rev. Jerry Vandiver age 78, of Cleveland passed away Friday January 8, 2015.

Rev. Vandiver was born in Cleveland the son of the late Garland and Virgie Mae Barrett Vandiver. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Scarlet Renee` Vandiver, grandson, Ralph Dyer, step mother, Mary Vandiver. Rev. Vandiver was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and father to the fatherless. After his mother’s death we was raised by his grandmother, Lou Vandiver.

Rev. Vandiver begin preaching in 1979 and was the founder of Liberty Baptist Church where he pastored along with Friendly Mission Baptist Church and Union Baptist Church. He was a member of Old Nacoochee Baptist Church and has been involved in a radio broadcast at WRWH Radio for 20 plus years. Rev. Vandiver was the founder of the band, Disciples for Christ. He had a passion for art and painted many beautiful paintings.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Wanda Vandiver, Cleveland; daughters, Leah Barrett, Cleveland; daughter and son in law, Kezia and Michael Bartlett, Cleveland, daughter, Andrea Vandiver, Lula; grandchildren, Dusty Dyer, Kaley Barrett, Sarah Warner, Noah Bartlett, Ashley Westmoreland, Mariah Westmoreland; great grandchild, Aidyn Barrett; brother and sister in law, Kenneth and Jane Vandiver, Cleveland; sisters, June Adams, Athens, Brenda “Bobbie” Vandiver, Orlando, FL.; sisters and brothers in law, Judy and Hoyal Presley, Helen, Holly and Steve Crumley, Lula; numerous other family, friends and loving Church family at Union Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Monday January 11, 2016 at Old Nacoochee Baptist Church. The Rev. Chris Anderson, Rev. Michael Grizzle, Rev. Doug Merck and Rev. Barney Gerrin will officiate. Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends 2-4 and 6-8 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
